The point is this is Russell's team. He should be the best player on this team and he has the leadership ability to keep everything tight.

But at some point the Lakers have to make a decision whether they see him as their future PG or whether he is a shooting guard. You can't force him into a role if he isn't able to get it done like a good PG would.

Still a long season and I think he'll figure it out.

Clean up the turnovers and I don't think anyone has an issue with D'Angelo.

He's overthinking the offense, when it's just a simple pass away.

9 GAMES IN...think about when he starts to get it. The Spurs are 5-3, we are 5-4, just let that sink in for minute.

Spurs are basically Kawhi Leonard, Aldridge, and a bunch of guys right now. I think that's a winnable game for the Lakers coming up especially because it's a home game.

Get the fans going and feed off the energy, they don't play as quick as us with the two lumbering big men.

Funny the change in attitude from Luke to Byron in regards to D'Angelo when Luke is sitting him in the 4th quarter too.

Randle seems to have broken through a little bit into a new plateau. I'm waiting for D'Angelo to do the same. Randle needs a jumper and Russell needs to stop turning the ball over, but both of them have legitimate, team-carrying talent.

Seriously keep thinking that maybe his real position is just the 2 or combo. Maybe we keep our eyes open for a real PG still. No reason we can't carve out plenty of minutes for DAR and JC with along with a true PG.

Russell's attitude? Was he interviewed about his being benched? What did he say?

No dude, attitude of the fans who were up and arms every time DLO was benched by Boron but now Luke leaves DLO on the bench whole quarters and crickets :giggle:

How many teams even have a real PG? Most have a quote on quote scoring point guard which is what most say D'Angelo is. Having a true point guard is vastly overrated in today's game and even saying that it's a little too early to say D'Angelo isn't capable.

It doesn't really matter what his natural position is, but if we're expecting Russell to become our primary ball-handler, he'd better improve his assist:turnover ratio by a ton. If he doesn't, he's getting benched in the 4th quarter. Even Luke hinted that Russell lacks focus. We can't afford bone-headed plays in crunch time.

yes to both of the most recent posts:

don't need a "true" pg, but do need someone who's not throwing the ball to the opposition.

I can only speak for myself, but I like Russell's play in general. It's his turnovers and spotty focus that drive me crazy. Nance is one of my favorite players but if he started turning over the ball and not hustling out there, I'd be all over him too. I'm not sure why complaining about this seems to be a problem for some. It's the play of the person not the player himself.
