This is an oxymoron. An Important player is a good player period. Otherwise, they wouldn't be important would they? PG on a 5 time championship team? Yeah, I'll sign for that. Do you know how many clutch hustle plays that guy made just when we needed them that saved our a**** repeatedly? Statistically he never made a dent in the box scores, but assists also came from Kobe, Pau, Lamar on that team. He didn't have the ball as much as other PGs. He was clutch at both ends. Just when we HAD to have that turnover Fish would knock the ball out pf someone's hands. He was probably our vocal leader most of the time too. Lot of locker room glue.

Anyways, I know what you mean, but DAR is the opposite of Fish. So far he isn't much of a lead by example guy, too much ego and self-hype. Tonight he found his shot for sure but his body language on D was bad from tip-off. Arms down, late to react, bad positioning. 0 boards, 0 steals, 0 blocks and 5 turnovers. At least Fish could take care of the ball and execute the game plan. DAR just needs to keep his feet floating a little closer to the ground and do some more of the "little" things. Like Fish.

And smart of Luke to keep his butt and 5 turnovers on the bench and play Lou in crunch time to get the win. Lou is absolutely balling right now. So message sent and game won. Keep working D'Angelo .... Julius seems to be improving his handles and unforced turnovers, try to step your game up as well. :KobePoint:

Tired of sloppy turnovers from ESPN Sport Science Guy. That's all. He's breathtakingly good sometimes with his shooting and moves to get the shot off but careless with the handles at times still and passing.

I said 'bench his a**', in the GD Chat, but Luke know better and had him olay through it.

He had a decent night, though.

Nice to see Russell cheering for his video pen pal who was making threes on the court. Seriously...

His focus/intensity level is too often up and down through the game ...

Yeah, mixed game from him tonight. He definitely kept us in the game when in the 3rd when he was hitting shots over Lawson, but like you guys mentioned, his focus is not consistent. Did he even play in the 4th? That combined with Ingram closing the game should send the message to him. You gotta step up in that department if you're the point guard

Russell and Walton are still trying to find a common ground between them. Looks like it's going to take some time but it is early in the season. Neither are stubborn or have overbearing personalities so it will work out.

Way to go...1 assist and 5 TOs in 23 minutes...

The good thing is that Luke benched him in the 4th. It is pretty much unacceptable. He is aware of the issue and its been talked about a lot of times. He cannot just continue turning the ball over because of laziness and lack of concentration.

At least his shooting was efficient tonight. But the TOs are maddening.

Yeah. I thought he needed a seat too, but he ended up with an alright game.

I also agreed with @lakerjones that he wasn't the only one playing sloppy and half-hearted out there. The team has got to shake that moving forward.

At the end of the day though, we just won another game we would have lost by 20 under Byron so I'm good.

I also like how Luke is developing his relationship with Russell and speaks on his players to the media. You can tell the commitment to actually teaching guys what they do wrong and helping them improve instead of just throwing them under the bus as the last guy did.

interestingly, he's using a similar method: wood to butt. but he's keeping the lines of communication open whilst the woodbutting works its magic. not a small difference.

but yes, i'm fine with russell playing fewer minutes if he's going to continue to just start breaks for the opposition left and right.
