good game offensively for randle. didn't force too much, made some nice passes that didn't lead to buckets because folks just missed (epidemic, btw, both randle and russell get people wide open looks to no avail).
Offensively randle is getting better and better but defensively is where he needs to improve, metta and luol need to teach him about switching and keeping his hands up. The guy is way too strong and athletic to not be a above average defender. I hope draymond green in the off season works out with Julius on defense (request per Luke)
Randle has been our most reliable and consistent player so far. In the first half, he single-handedly kept us in the game with his scoring and play-making. His defense has been subpar but the same can be said for 80% of our other players.
BTW according to bkref, Randle is the only player on our team with a positive BPM and VORP, with the highest win share. Clearly our best player so far.
In the 3 games so far this season, Randle's game seems more polished and refined so far. Last year he was a little clunky... like his mechanics / movements needed adjustment. This season, especially off the dribble, great first step going to the basket and much better finishing around the rim.
Odd that Julius' rebound numbers are so low, but that's likely due to the increased efficiency so far this year and not having to rebound his own misses so often.
Glad to see more and more people fond of Julius . Not saying he's playing great or even good on both ends, but I like the improvement from last year. He may not be the fast learner or as "natural" as Russell and Ingram, but I have faith in Randle. In fact, it may not be fair to compare him to the other two, his strengths clearly are more physical and less basketball IQ related. It must be more difficult for him to learn a new, sophisticated system. If he keeps improving, he should be a great 3-rd option when the rest of the youngins is ready. And then we will have 2 of them
Needs moar arc on the jumper though... I remember a certain old school 90's PF that had a flat shot, but was actually quite consistent with it.
