I've said this before - that there are some important differences between Harden and Russell. I think Harden is not as good a shooter, honestly, and is a chucker who relies on volume and absurd calls that remove FGA to boost his shooting %s. Russell is also a better defender already - by a good bit, in my view. They're both capable of being high assist guys with lots of careless TOs. They can both score well, and they both have pretty impressive range on their shot.

    Check out Harden's per36 minute stats (pts-ast-reb):
    Age 20: 15.6-2.8-5.1
    Age 21: 16.4-2.9-4.2
    Age 22: 19.3-4.2-4.7
    Age 23: 24.4-5.5-4.6

Now Russell's from last season and from this preseason:
    Age 19: 16.8-4.2-4.4
    Age 20: 21.7-6.4-4.2

    ;)

There are many NBA players that are better defensively than Har_en... I'm sure most of us here too. :) I'd like to see Russell incorporate that step back J that Har_en uses.

harden's physical strength is something russell will never match, but i think he can surpass him in all other areas.

then again, i'm not a huge harden fan. i think without the favorable officiating, he's regarded like demar derozan or worse.

I'm not a fan of Harden either, but he's a much better shooter/passer than Derozan. D'Lo is no where close to matching the strength & driving game that Harden has... but I think they're similar in the way they use hesitations and screens. I would say PnR game, but both of these guys just end up shooting it after getting a screen. In a couple years, I think D'Lo will be regarded as a clearly better shooter than Harden too

I don't like Haren's game at all. Way too ball-dominant, turnover prone, and forces foul calls. I much prefer the Brandon Roy and Ginobili comparisons.

i didn't mean that his game was like derozan; i meant that he would be regarded like derozan: as a second or third-tier "star" instead of a franchise cornerstone.

I'm okay with DeRozan because DeRozan did get to the East Finals as the best player on a team along with Lowry. If Ingram/Russ are as good as those two I'm okay with that. Those guys are All Star players in this league and you can bet whether it's Paul George, Cousins, Towns, whoever that star is on the free agent market will wanna come play for the Lakers.

I don't know about the physical strength part. James Har_en isn't that strong. He's bigger than Russell right now, but Russell is only 20. It's tough to say how much bigger Russell can get. Har_en probably will be a little stronger, but It's still a little too early to say never.

harden was super strong at 20. he's a power guard. russell doesn't even have the frame to add that kind of bulk. it's a big part of harden's game, too. if you're going to lurch into defenders every trip down, you have to be heavy and strong to maintain your balance. this is why not everyone can execute his particular brand of ref-baiting. i don't really mean this as a compliment, just a statement of fact.
