Honestly I'd give them Ingram and their choice of one of our young core, but not Russell. With Russell and George we'd have a dynamic duo that I'd be willing to gamble on.
Then we have no creators in the second unit. DAR and JC need to be in both units for balance. Also, if people learn how to move, the system will create looks just from ball movement, pick and roll and coming off of multiple screens. I honestly don't have a problem with Lou starting. He can be a good spot up shooter, and can create just a little if the shot isn't there. His deficiencies won't be masked with the second unit. He is what he is. I like JC providing the Odom roll off the bench.
We'll see ... I think his lack of D , the fact he can be a ball stopper and turn open looks down ( for contested shots , hello wannabe Kobe) could result in very slow starts for the team. I think starting both DAR and JC and staggering their minutes would be a better solution .
Yesterday someone rightly said Russell will be the closest thing to a chance at a "homegrown" new (super)star following Kobe likely for a long time. How about this too? Jordan Clarkson will be the most athletic and explosively skilled "home grown" 2 guard we will have since Kobe likely for a long time as well. He could be a complete mismatch often leading the second unit and as everyone says, needs to play lots of minutes. Must find time on the court for Jordan and D'Angelo together as well (crunch time) and JC of course closes games. Let's not forget he ran track in high school. Could he be at some point also considered a Westbrook lite to go along with the Thompson lite when he and DAR are doing the Splash Bros lite? Love how amazing JC is looking this year. And it is a known fact back to college that his coaches say he's tireless out there. They could never wear him out.
Next three SG's he will face: CJ McCollum, Afflalo ( who already exploited Williams lack of size) and Klay. Good luck.
His MUCH improved D so far this year is 100% coaching. His struggles last year weren't for a lack of effort. Crazy how bad Boron must have been.
Russell and George would be dope. I know George isn't going anywhere this year unless the new look Pacers completely blow it. I think talks heat up next summer. I do think Russell is available for the right player because I'm confident Clarkson can play the Curry role in this system.
To be fair, they only knew 20% of the playbook. I wouldn't even bother teaching them the rest. They weren't man enough.
I like Jordan's attitude about just about everything, but silently wish he would stay away from any Kardashians.
I heard the interview. I thought it was very good myself; Pincus posted it on LG, and I inquired if there was a chance Ingram were going to work w/him; Pincus said, 'no.' . Anyways, give it a listen if you have time.
