That's what I was getting at; it's not to admonish him, but just a nice reminder that he's a Laker, and that although that comes with all the perks, it also comes with so much media scrutiny. Luke is probably the best person that can communicate that too him and Russell will listen too him, IMO.

I understand he's 20; no problem. I understand making mistakes, and and there will probably be more; I do think he'll prove everybody wrong on the court this season, though with a breakout year, and that's what I want for him.

maybe Kobe has spoiled me (or all of us) but the level of commitment here is lacking. He hasn't proven anything yet and to be involved in these silly controversies, I'm not sure if he will have a better career than Swaggy the idiot.

And if not true, good attempt to snap Travis the f*** out of his "emo" funk. ;) I have faith that the FO will make the right decision if DAR turns out to be too much of a continuous source of bad media and actual news reports.

That's why you gave Luuke the back knuckle to smack sense into less smart people when needed.

SLAM: What can we expect to see from you more on the court this upcoming season?

DR: Dominate. Just dominate every chance I get. No taking plays off, taking every possession as if it’s the last and just really competing at a high level.

    *sigh*

Shut up and just play. Quit talking out loud like you're better than you are. Show us first. Take a page out of Brandon Ingram's book. Talk about working hard, staying focused, and "of course", getting stronger.

I'd like to hear nothing else from him this Summer. He certainly doesn't know how to dominate at the NBA level yet, so this is a quality of his I don't admire. You can be confident and not broadcast your every thought to the press like you've accomplished something already. You haven't.

Your sucky play led to a former Coach of the Year getting fired.

yeah, gave it away with the coach reference, though i think that was the plan.

this won't be popular, but i agreed with portions of your sarcastic rant. i want to hear more about learning and improving and less about "dominating" from a guy who has admitted that his rookie season wasn't what he wanted it to be. domination is a fine ultimate goal, but it's a distant one. use it to organize more proximal goals, like: valuing the basketball on offense, finishing through contact, and understanding team defensive schemes. once you do those things, you can start thinking about dominating.

But D'Angelo where is the party at?

Anyway, I do not see anything wrong with what he said; he has the keys to the car. It is on him...

I got no issues with Russ, he's young, having fun, getting along with his teammates, and wants to be great. Also, love his shirt here

This. There's too much being made out of something he did a year ago and expressed regret for.

Also when you go to a concert, you're not going as a Laker's employee and personal verbal attacks from idiots can be met with the same. You think anyone else in the NBA is going to just standby and be taunted by you at a show or club? He may be better off to just take it and shut up but that's asking a lot.

I really don't have a problem with him either.

    He's just being 20.

I'm sure Russell is really a decent young man but as everyone surmised there are factions of the public out to make a name for themselves by trying to antagonize and provoke visible pro athletes.

A couple things in play here...

I don't like hearing DAR talk much at all, so I tend to not listen to his interviews. I tuned out Kobe to an extent, even at the height of his powers. Kobe was self centered, egotistical and had some cringe-worthy quotes every so often; but his performances on the court were so undeniable that I overlooked the quotes or he validated them. DAR is on the opposite side of the spectrum here, his snitching scandal forces us to look at his every word with extreme scrutiny, and we've seen him on the court for a very limited time. All things considered, the only option he has is to move on, so I don't mind him saying anything on his mind, even if its BS. He's shown signs of backing it up on the court. I'll dig into the guy if he comes out the gate sucking in the regular season, until then he's just talking s***. No offense taken. I'm just not listening lol

i guess my sarcasm meter is hyper sensitive!

anyway, i won't dig back in to all the reasons why i'm tired of the kind of talk we hear from russell (for the record, i said similar things as far back as pre-draft).

i'm just hoping that, aside from hoping for recruitment efforts, hanging out with towns will show him more of a model of how to play and how to talk about it. or at least help him wash off the nick young/gilbert arenas stench.

The people who need to get over his "snitching" is everyone else. Seriously, even Nick Young is over it.

Everyone calling him a snitch seriously need to reevaluate their maturity.

Well what the heck? Have you no balls sir? Find a way and delete their self promo from happening here on this no nonsense Lakers "basketball forum". Show some grit. Don't let them make you their advertising lackey. Fight back.

    :Tabarnak:

Is the off season almost over yet? I'm done with the Rams already after the season opener last night.
