His NBA long 2 "just" inside the line is the FIBA 3 , that's why he's automatic , he never had to adjust to the FIBA 3 unlike the rest of the players who don't take as much long 2's as Melo in the NBA
^ding ding. Fisher would also not need to adjust. Foot on the line 3 (worst shot in basketball) is their favorite shot lol. And its a 3 for FIBA purposes.
He still made like 9-13 of those long twos though. That's what I'm saying, he gets absolutely on fire in Olympic play, it's weird, and fun to watch.
Wasn't sure where to put this, but I haven't seen SAS this animated in a long time. I also tend to agree with him on this stance. Short 1:00 minute video
He does the most animated/surprised/horrified clips out of any sports personality. That's a pretty harsh take though. In Denver, he kept running up against the Lakers and Kobe. NY has been dysfunctional. To play this long at a high level is something to be proud of, but I'm sure the championship thing will always bother him. In this era of super teams, not sure he'll be in a position to get another shot. If he couldn't get to the finals in the East, it's probably not happening. If I'm not mistaken, one of his best years was after the Olympics when came into the year in shape. Hoping for him he has a great year, and that the interesting squad that Phil put together will make some noise in the East.
So much for the blowouts, 2 close games in a row. The US now looks like a team that has been together a month. Sloppy passing, a lot of one on one, turnovers, too much fouling. Also, the international refs suck. Blown goaltending calls, blown out of bounds/possession calls, weak touch fouls/calling flops, rarely counting continuation, it's ugly.
International teams have figured them out. They know the reputation of U.S. basketball being talented so they expect them to come out just playing like they're at an All-Star game, and that's exactly what international teams want them to do.
Kyrie and that iso ball down the stretch when they had like 2 minutes and something left was a hot mess. He better be glad it worked in the NBA finals. I don't like the execution of team USA in those final minutes. Those sloppy fouls on Serbia almost possibly cost them a gold medal. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't win gold. To be honest with you this team isn't as talented. Outside of Kevin Durant, Melo and Paul George, there aren't really any explosive go to, take over players on this olympic team.
Yeah without Kobe or *gulp* Lebron/Wade leading these guys, heck even CP3 with his playmaking, I can totally see these guys have the gold slip out of there hands. The biggest flaw I saw right away was the weak PG rotation. I would have probably take Harrison Barnes and Kyle Lowry out for (assuming CP3 and Step are out of consideration) John Wall and Damian Lillard. It's concerning when you hear the coaches talk about how PG13 or Jimmy Butler can play PG as well.
Try all Warriors players . How many shots KD had in this game ? 3, 4 ? He was garbage against AUS too
Curry Lebron Leonard Westbrook CP3 A . Davis ( a big if healthy) This is who Team USA is missing . Its defense hasn't been good so far so no easy win against the best teams
Awesome game between Brazil and Argentina (107-111). It took 2 OT's for Argentina to take an all time 39-38 h2h lead, GREAT rivalry. Clutch rebound and free throws from Manu.
Team USA struggling again and barely winning. This team isn't cohesive. They can learn something from the Women's team.
These guys aren't very good when getting back on defense. I wouldn't haven't expected a team with Kevin Durant Carmelo as team leaders to play this poorly. This team desperately needs a LeBron, Stephen Curry, etc. But I don't think LeBron will playing another Olympic game because by the time the other comes around he'll be nearing 36.
At least Klay Thompson finally played Iike an NBA player, my hating must have worked. But yes, this team isn't very well put together, it's like they grabbed the best names available, put no thought into PG and actual playmaking or defense. I despise Chris Paul, and I'm no LeBron fan, but this team desperately misses players like that. Irving and Lowry aren't exactly what I'd call playmakers or defenders.
