Fisher is also open to playing in China. Sources say Fisher has indeed been "exploring options and expressing interest in playing again." Fisher posted a workout video on Tuesday. Fisher signed a multiyear contract in 2014 to coach the Knicks but was fired in February by team president Phil Jackson. Fisher will turn 42 this summer and would be the oldest player in the NBA. Golden State cheap pickup? Is Matt Barnes excited?
Fisher did well in the triangle but struggled in conventional set-ups and probably would be run off the court in today's faster paced game. The first is no longer in vogue and he owes his ex-wife a whole lotta money.
he was completely useless in his last two nba stops. and that was two years ago. he shouldn't have taken that knicks job. should have worked as an assistant in a few places first. not sure how espn or someone hasn't locked him up for a broadcasting deal, though. he's made for it.
I love Derek but it's very clear at this point he needs a job and he's not sure where to get one. I feel sorry for the man. Ever since his divorce I think he's been lost a bit.
He can be our layup coach. Oh wait. Doubt there is a job for him, player or coach. But I'd love to see him get whatever he wants. As Real said, I think he's a bit lost. Hate to see it.
Yeah... 1. why does he need the money so much? 2. why can't he get a in-booth job of some kind? Also - I am positive he can get something in China.
That divorce probably cleaned him out. He might be able to. It's weird that he hasn't gotten those offers. I'd be shocked if TWC didn't offer him a position.
At this point, he'd make as much if not more coaching than playing. Not sure he'll get another opportunity right now. Sounded like he would have benefitted from being a seasoned assistant first.
Fisher used to be such a class act. The incident with Barnes really took a toll on his reputation. He should be clever enough to call it a day as far as playing in the NBA. I'm sure he will get coaching considerations again by some team. He has the personality to be a coach. But coming back as a player just for the paycheck and getting embarassed on the floor is going to be a nightmare to watch. DON'T DO IT FISH!
agreed. I've always enjoyed him the 2-3 times hes been on Inside the NBA. I also think he could develop and turn into a great broadcaster who sits with the play by play guys.
