Can we start a kickstarter/indiegogo/gofundme to get him out of here?

We have to be saving him to be included as a part of a trade where THEN the other team buys him out.

Hell no. I ain't contributing one dollar to that guy. Paying the Lakers to get rid of him just means we're paying his salary in a round about way. I don't want to have that guy get a dollar of my money...which he kind of does anyway since I have Time Warner Sports...which I pay for in my cable bill....which eventually reaches the Lakers' wallet...which then goes to Nick. Damn. I am working at my job to pay Nick to sit around and knock chicks up.

Nick is such a clown that we can't even get rid of his dirt cheap K in this day and age.

He is not really a chemistry cancer but he is an immature and terrible professional and a terrible role model.

If the Lakers waive Nick Young, for salary cap purposes can they pay him his full salary this year, and then next year stretch his final year salary over three seasons?

    Larry Coon

They can, by choosing when to waive him.

Salary stretching happens automatically, and the team has no choice in how the remaining salary is stretched (however, they do have the choice over whether the cap hit follows the original contract or the stretch). But the stretch rules are different if the player is waived after August 31. If they waive him before August 31, then the upcoming season is stretched just like any following seasons. But if they waive the player September 1 or later, the current season is paid normally, and only subsequent seasons are stretched.

So by waiting until September 1 to waive him, they can do exactly what you suggest.

Some clarity on the Nick Young situation. Sorry, for those coming in here thinking he got waved, :). However, this does pertain to that, and why we haven't gotten rid of Young just yet.

If the Lakers stretch him, his player option for next year will become guaranteed I think.

So I would actually prefer to have him on the inactive list...so maybe he will just opt out by himself next off-season. Stretching him doesn't make sense to me this off-season. He can also be used as a throw in if we ever try to trade one of the young players.

Its a shame what happened with Young's career here. He can actually be a pretty damn good contributer, but all this drama has really taken him out of his game.
