    Russell was amazing.

Sadly though, he seems like he still can't take care of the ball...every game its a half dozen TOs. I mean thats not very unusual for SL..so I'll reserve judgement for regular season. But very dominant performance.

I've mentioned it in the Game Chat, but when Russell went to the bench they (announcers - Barru and whats-his-face) were griping about him sitting at the end of it, instead of next to the coaches,
so that he can learn while on the bench.

Dammit. We truly are the most hated franchise...

He took Kobe's place for ESPN to hate us; he's the perfect villain I guess. Whatever. Russell's a confident kid; he doesn't left that effect him.

What's really silly is that all the Laker media reporters know and have reported that Russell has followed Murmuys around the entire Summer League. They're inseparable right now. He's been nothing but coachable since Byron left.

    Imbeciles.

What I've seen from D'Angelo this Summer League he definitely looks and is stronger. He's not getting bumped off when teams try and touch him up on those screen and rolls. Just in that one highlight you could D'Angelo did a great job of using his dribble to gain leverage on the defender, then keeping him on his hip and either using the floater or being able to get to the basket once he had gotten past his man. His shooting looks terrific right now as well. So smooth, on balance, and get arc and form. Even saw some plays in there where he put in effort defensively and you saw the result. He moved his feet, was square to the ball, and used his length to contest.

I can already see that D'Angelo is gonna be a much improved player this season. Doesn't look tentative or overwhelmed like he did at the beginning of his rookie season. I realize the competition is let's face it not very good, but that doesn't matter because the things he is doing right now are the same things he'll be able to do once the real season begins. He'll be able to use his dribble to create seperation, he'll be able to get more downhill on screen and rolls, he'll able to keep defenders off balance with his shooting stroke, his handles, teams will have to play him very aggressive and not let him raise up from down town which will open up his mid range game which in turn will open up passing lanes for him. Really excited to see him progress this coming season. I'm expecting a big year.

He said he was going to be a bully lol. Might as well practice on Summer Leaguers first.

I think the fact that ESPN is giving him the "Kobe" treatment is making me like him even more. I hope he keeps getting the hate and keeps making the haters shut up throughout his career just like Kobe did.

really coachable players exit the game and sit directly in the coach's lap. i'm sorry, this is just what it takes to be a great player in this league. i should know, i move things around on television screens and stuff.

Small sample size, but I'm surprised when his shots don't go in.

Meh...these talking heads really aren't at the Laker facilities or around them so they wouldn't know. I like that Russell is copping an "I don't give a ****" attitude towards the media. Develop that hard shell...just play for your team and coaches. I don't want Russell to be surly like Westbrook or monotonic like Duncan. Be personable to a certain extent so he can take advantage of the marketing opportunities that he can get. Associate with individuals that will grow him as a professional on and off the floor...not doofuses like Arenas and Young.

I was on the Okafor train but Russell through the course of last season and his excellent showing so far has grown on me. There will be more adversity along the way which he should be able to weather it given what he has gone through so far.

I can'y fully embrace Russell as a transcendent player and the future of the team until he fixes that early 90s toolbox hair. That nobody has pulled him aside and implored him to make a change is evidence his teammates still hate him.

Early on Russell tends to be lackadaisical with his ball handling at times...and getting picked. It could be just the Summer League vibe of it, the games not mattering that much. It is more of a personal showcase for him right now to prove a point. He doesn't have his trusted running mates out there being Randle and Clarkson. Ingram is adjusting to the pro game and Nance is more of the put back player.

The positive in all of this is that Russell is building his own game. This upcoming season, I am projecting him to be the go to guy when the moment calls for it. I'm also betting that him and Walton will get along just fine... It won't be Van Exel-Del Harris Part Deux.

I never even heard of this apparent a-hole before he started piling on the Lakers and our players recently. Again, maybe bleeping himself with something that has long dirty slivers should be suggested to him? Though I always choose taking the high road myself. :Crazyartest:
