Russ is my favorite Laker, was last season too. He started off rough tonight, I was antsy because I wanted him to calm down and play under control, and he did just that. Took over on offense, had some nice steals and assists, he looked very good and mainly, confident in the end. Nice interview just now too, gave huge credit to Zubac and Ingram, said Zubac reminds him of Marc Gasol a little bit.

I watched some Russell post-game. The guy had a great game, but he was acting waaaaAAAY too cocky for a guy who just won a summer league game.

What channel were you watching? All I saw was him say this game was "funner" than last summer league and give tons of praise to Zubac and Ingram multiple times.

Absolutely he was humble with respect to himself and his teammates. Didn't mean to take that from him. I just meant his overall demeanor and swagger. I love to see confidence but this guy was wearing shades during a post game interview, and this is the summer league.

I didnt get that vibe at all. He said all the right things in the interview. And he was wearing glasses, not shades, if I recall. Whats wrong with that?

I think those are just his glasses, like for seeing maybe. He was wearing them to watch the game before ours and he's worn them in interviews before. I got no cocky demeanor or swagger from him at all, only that he was pleased with the game and his preparation coming in having one season under his belt.

Those are just tinted glasses. Popular in the 90s, which is whole style right now with his hair and all

What stood out to me was on a couple of occasions during breaks Russell directing Ingram and Zubac on the floor... He is embracing being a leader. I thought Russell was a bit lackadaisical at the onset but turned it on with 13 straight points when the Pels crept back into the game. A good start...

I'm happy to see him showcasing the work he's put in. He was pretty impressive in the post. I think he's going to turn more into a PG as time goes on and as the talent level around him improves, but what he did was very, very impressive. Jesse Mermuys touched on it a bit: as impressive as he was, what we want him from him going forward is less Kobe and more Curry right? We want to see him distribute a little more and floor general a little more.

Still it was great to see him so dominant against competition that he should dominate. These guys can't hang with D'Angelo and he made that clear.

I think the USA Select team will help keep him in check too. if he gets a little overconfident dominating guys in SL, team USA will bring him back down to earth. I really can't wait to see all these guys together in a few months.

Yep...Russell was effective in the post and Walton in a short interview during the telecast mentioned that they will utilize him there.

Loved what we saw from Russ tonight. He's clearly trying to be the leader out there with all the communication he did. Nice seeing him do most of his damage from the post, he's almost always going to have a smaller guy on him there. He was able to read a couple passing lanes there too!

As bad as Byron was the jokes will be going on long after we have all passed from this world. Humor is sometimes the best way to deal with such total incompetence. Byron served a few good purposes but none where intentional. He was incredible at being a bad example.

Saw someone on Reddit say this: If Steph and Clay are the Splash Bros, D-Lo and Ingram should be the Stretch Bros.

Thank god for TWCSN because apparently the ESPN coverage was unwatchable, even for non Laker fans, with all the DAR hate.

Penn: "DAR needs to average 30 points if he wants a chance in this league."
