So you want Russell to improve his lower body strength..., well Tim agrees with you:

So rumors flying that Westbrook for Russell... No no no. Westbrook is a wonderful talent, but he makes really bad decisions and is one injury from being done. He hasn't made changes in his game that will allow him to be effective as he ages. He would be great for jersey sales, but not for long term success.

dlo for westbrook has to happen if westbrook assures a long term stay. at his very best, dlo projects to be almost as impactful as westbrook is right now.

but if it's a dwight situation, no thanks.

Westbrook would be silly to give his assurance to sign anywhere, quite frankly. The best thing for him is to explore his options via FA and see what's out there for himself and find the best basketball situation. That's what he'll probably do.

However, I'd give up Russell in a nanosecond if it meant it getting Westbrook.

You're crazy if you wouldn't trade Russell for Westbrook. I would do Russell and Randle for Westbrook in a heartbeat

It's not crazy at all considering Westbrook is a FREE AGENT in one year. There is no need to give up the future of our franchise for what could be a one year rental.

So what happens if we give up Russell and believe me we'd have to give up a lot more. Then what happens when he bolts? We don't have Westbrook or Russell and may not have any young pieces after that. Makes zero sense.

You keep your young assets, you try and win 35 games this season, and then you make a run at Westbrook next year with all of them. It makes no sense to do what the Knicks did and give away all their assets for a guy who will be on the free agent market in a year.

If Westbrook assures us he'll stay long term, let him just come next year.

It has to be a sign and trade or else you're going to look crazy trading away a rookie scale contract for a rental.

It does seem like Ingram and Russell are connecting already. Good stuff. Re: trading D' Angelo for Westbrook of course I do it in a heartbeat if Westbrook agrees that it's not just a rental. You'd probably have to add in Randle to get him and I'd do it. But I am hoping we don't have to give up assets and Westbrook comes to us in Free Agency, while our guys develop together. It would be so much better to be able to add Westbrook to this mix. It would move Clarkson to backup 1 and that would be amazing. Westbrook is really the perfect fit for this lineup.

    1. Westbrook could be a one and done. Even if he stays what are the Lakers getting? A potential battle for the 8th seed?

    2. Westbrook is never going to be a super star that leads a team to a Championship, and needs a head strong star to play with. He is a very bad decision maker, he is injury prone, he is aging, and he has not to this point made any adjustments to his games that will allow him to age graciously. Westbrook is fools gold,, one of those players that will put up big number, make you say wow, and then shoot you out of as many games as he shoots you into.

    3. Trading for Westbrook and mortgaging the future seems like a move to win some games now, sell some jerseys, and end up killing the long term flexibility of the squad. I would prefer keeping the cap space, sign some good support players, getting rid of the chuckers, and let the young bucks run n gun. If the Lakers get a nice jump in wins this year, which I can't see how they won't, they will be attractive to FA.
