I have a feeling he'll flourish in Luke's system.. He'll never be a star, but I think he has a lot to offer.. I Like the way he plays.
As do I. Remember how well him and D'Angelo played together? The problem was it wasn't often enough. He rolls hard, he goes up strong, good soft hands, great motor, tough, knows his limitations, and will run the floor and get loose balls and deflections and just do all the little things. Tarik is a solid backup center and he'll likely be cheap too. No reason to not bring him back unless Bass wants to come back.
Awesome news! Tarik is a solid backup and he's relatively cheap. Unfortunately this likely means the end of Brandon Bass.
I'd like to see us re-sign Huertas and call it an offseason. He's not a bad third string point guard and I see JC getting some backup PG minutes. Not really interested throwing 30 million at a backup point who will play maybe 10-15 minutes behind Russell.
I was never anti-Tarik, just anti-Tarik in a starting role. He won't be. He'll be our much smarter version of Ezeli probably and we still even might bring back Bass so who knows? He could just be a spot minute player. We'll see. The one thing you can say about Tarik is he'll never take a play off. He may not have the tools to be a 25 minute a night guy on a really good team, but he's good enough to contribute. If he could add just a 10 foot jumper he'd be a commodity and have a nice long career.
I like Tarik. Good to see that the signing doesn't affect our cap room so we can potentially still go after a guy like Crabbe or *crossing my fingers* Wade. But I'm happy for him. $6 million a year, even if non-guaranteed and under this new salary cap, is still significant money though. I hope that means he actually has a locked up spot in the rotation. I think he could really flourish if he got a consistent 15-20 mpg of playing time each night.
Great deal IMO. Black is a solid backup and if he doesn't play well, he will be gone after just one year.
