I believe in a couple/few years he is going to be our best player. I really do.

The great thing is I'm not sure who might be our best player in a few years out of this young group.

They all have some great attributes where you can argue for any of Russell, Randell, Ingram or even Clarkson.

This is a great debate/problem to have.

I think Russell and Ingram will be 1A and 1B. They are both phenomally skilled. Ingram is such a talented defender, so long, such a good shooter. He's Ambidextrous. Russell is so crafty, great shooter as well, learning how to play solid defense, incredible vision and playmaking skills, and he's got the killer instinct.

I have no idea who's gonna be better and I don't really care. They're both so talented, skilled, and unique. I have no doubt they're gonna be one of the better duos in the league. D'Angelo is like a better playmaking version of Steph. Of course not as good a shooter, but a much more natural passer. Ingram is a combination of Paul George, KD, Kawhi Leonard, and Jimmy Butler.

We have two legit potential franchise players to build around. Think of teams like the Hawks, C Bags, Hornets, etc. They don't even have one and we could have two and possibly a couple of other players who could be All Stars. This is definitely a group that can develop into a championship core.

These kids fit so well together. We can let D'Angelo orchestrate and have Ingram come off weak side motion action and pin downs. We can have D'Angelo play off the ball on some split action with Randle in the post. We can run screen and rolls all day with Clarkson/D'Angelo and Ingram. Play small. Switch everything. Can have Randle push the ball and run some transition action get Ingram on the wing or setting up trail three's. Just so many options. We are gonna be one of the most exciting teams in the league.

I was thinking the same thing earlier. All of them could be our best player depending on how far they push themselves. The fact that they're all together pushing each other to improve (and Larry Nance Jr. too) is pretty darn incredible.

I think Russell and Ingram both have tremendous upside and natural ability about them, but Clarkson and Randle and Nance Jr. keep them very grounded. I'm not sure Jordan or Julius have the same talent as Russell or Ingram, but I can tell you for sure that Jordan and Julius will do everything in their power to maximize their potential. D'Angelo struggled (even reported by some beat writers) to take the game seriously every day and to push himself to be great. He is a guy who gets swept up in the moment but is so gifted that he often succeeds despite himself. If he puts in the kind of work and focus we know Jordan and Julius put in, the sky is the limit. There's something incredible about the way the four of them can and should push each other forward.

I don't believe that we have just two cornerstones. I believe we've formed a bedrock with young, earnest talent. It's assumed everyone at this level wants to be great, but that's not always the case. There's plenty of players who are content to rely on their already given gifts. There's players too distracted by fame to focus on their craft. With our kids I have very little fear of complacency and the things Brandon Ingram is saying already on confirm it for me. We've got a great group of young players that aren't just out for themselves, they're out for greatness. I think they'll find it together.

I wouldn't say D'Angelo doesn't take the game seriously. I think he very much does and the fact he's working so hard right now in the summer is evidence of that. He wants to be great and he's clearly pushing himself. Yes he's immature like every 19 year old kid coming into the league, but he clearly got better at the season went along so he is clearly pushing himself and he's only getting better.

ingram actually seems more mature off the court than clarkson/dlo, but maybe that's just because he hasn't yet had a chance to be kardashian-ed?

LOL. I'd expect him to be more like Julius in terms of personality. Julius works hard, keeps away from the spotlight, and keeps his nose clean.

Russell, Randle and Ingram will all take turns looking like out best player considering the match up of the night. All three are likely all-stars in a few years, Ingram maybe sooner. With a few years of work all three will be very versatile do it all players. Especially true now that we have a coach. With Nance and Clarkson we do have a lot to look forward to. I agree with Luke you have to love the process. I am going to love the process of watching this team grow to totally dominating the league.

That is what I like about Randle as well...low key, mature beyond his years but intense on the floor. Ingram is touch more laid back but he does have the same demeanor. Good to know that he is a workaholic. At least, Laker brass will know where to find him. A third one that is similar would be Clarkson. There is always the saying..."it's always the quiet ones." ;)

Russell on the other hand likes the spotlight...just fine if he is going to front the band.

I think this last season is what is driving him to work so hard. I think the whispers of him not taking the game seriously were somewhat true, BUT I think he learned from it and realizes he MUST work hard, that the NBA is no joke. I mean, it's the same thing a lot of kids in every sport go through. You're the best at every level you play at, then you get punched in the mouth. Not everyone can be Kobe and have a drive that surpasses all logic. MOST people need to get a wake up call. Let's hope that Russell got his and he keeps working...for 15 years.

We have 3 possibly 4 guys who in the future could take over a game at any given moment. That should make it harder to defend them as a whole. Shut down one guy, maybe two, the other ones can step up and carry the team. Having a guy like Ingram who is as good as he is already and is going to get better is going to make it easier for others to do this.

I feel like there is waaay too much optimism right now. Maybe it's just the Eeyore in me, but when people get this happy and excited, I just wait for the other shoe to drop.

Why shouldn't we be this optimistic? The last five years basically have been hell. Ever since we beat Boston in the Finals. We have a great young core. At least two bonafide potential superstars and franchise players and three other really, really good players. That's an incredible young core. I can't think of one fan base that wouldn't be extremely optimistic with that not to mention the perfect head coach for our team.

A lot of people talk about guys being busts, but four of the five look at the very least like solid NBA players and with the skillset they have there's no reason at least a couple of them likely Ingram and Russell maybe Randle can't be stars.

Russell and Ingram have the protypical skillset for a modern day NBA superstar. Length, size, elite shooting ability, both have potential to be very good defenders, they can handle, they can pass although Russell is certainly superior right now, they can put the ball on the floor, play off the ball and in motion sets, and they're very high IQ players. Both are also decent not great athletes.

Does Julius work hard though? He seems gassed a lot.

He's always chasing loose balls and getting tough rebounds. He's as hard a worker as we have. Julius is a beast. Great motor. Once he gets a jump shot he could eventually be in the conversation for the elite power forwards in the league.
