^The statement by Coach K that Ingram is a serious yet low to no maintenance individual bodes well to the group we already have personality wise. He'll be able to play with Russell who is positioning himself to lead and work with Randle who likes to take over as well. In a way, it looks like he and Clarkson would be no problems as far as easing back yet are responsible enough to their share and be accountable.

Good stuff. Mitch is right, IMO; we don't know what his ceiling is quite yet. I think he's going to be a very good player in this league, though.

Just read through this whole thread and I'm beyond happy we got him. Every article and video just makes me that much more certain we got the right guy. So excited for the future of this team.

I'd be a happy enough Laker fan rolling into the season with this core and a couple cheap vets but instead we have cash out the wazoo to really make a splash in FA. Seems too good to be true.

    Lakers!!!!

Just to chime in on the "whose more NBA ready" thing, I think it's wrong to say that Simmons isn't NBA ready because he can't shoot and isn't skilled like Curry, Kobe, etc. Those are the wrong comparisons. He's more like Blake Griffin (who was more NBA ready and had more of an immediate impact than Curry and Kobe). His athleticism will allow him to attack the rim and have an impact right away.

With that said, I don't think that necessarily means that Simmons will have a better rookie year or that Ingram needs years to develop.

If I had to bet on Rookie of the Year, I'd put my money on Ingram.

You wouldn't be the only one to do that. I think Ingram can certainly be in that mix. I'm going to say he comes up second barring injury to Simmons, but I still think Simmons has a better season than Ingram.

The "years to develop" thing means it'll take years for him to hit his stride. He'll certainly contribute right away and bring spacing and hopefully some length and athleticism, but he won't really hit his full potential for a while. That's all the timeline means.

If the offense turns out to be anywhere near what the Warriors was, no reason why Ingram can't come in and score a good amount of PPG right away. Just play with effort on defense and use that length to impact the game and he already would be considered a pretty good rookie year without doing anything special.

I'm extremely happy with picking Ingram, and I can't wait to see him blossom in Luke's system. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in the ASG in just a few years, especially with his work ethic.

Now begins the long road to redemption for the Lakers, but it will be joyful to watch the team get better every year and grow into a playoff team and then a contender.

Ingram seems like a really good kid. Glad we luck'd out on a high character guy as well as his physical traits.

Just caught NBA TV Western Conference Draft Review... Guest Clark Kellogg who is mostly a college basketball analyst picked the Lakers as clear winners in the draft in the West. He lauded Ingram's obsessive work ethic and skills even going as far as describing him as a transcendent talent. Kellogg commented that Ingram needs to be in tip top shape early on while Steve Smith suggested jokingly that he frequent all the best restaurants in the Southland. They both spoke of how he still and will fill out in the next two seasons...
