Lakers will have two of the top four players in these last two drafts either way.

I think Russell is definitely going to shine next year, but I truly believe it won't be until 2 years with Luke before we really start to see his brilliance. Learning a new system takes some time. But by that time too, the camaraderie and on the court chemistry between Julius, Clarkson, Russell, Ingram, & Nance, should be a lot more grounded and concrete.

Hmmm. Normally, I agree w/you except this time. The motion and spacing principals that we implement are going to benefit Russell the most, and I think out of all of our young personnel, he'll have the easiest time adjusting; his IQ is off the charts. Let's hearken back to last season when we ran the pre-school version of motion offense; specifically the Boston C Bags game on the road; he looked great and and looked his best when we ran those types of plays. I think we'll be surprised how quickly he adjust and how good he looks.

I don't think it will take long to learn at all for our young guys. I'd imagine by January of next season, you'll see a team gelling and kicking on all high cylinders offensively, IMO.

Russell is far more skilled and refined perhaps down the road, but right now Russell is easily better.

In high school, were Simmons and Russell considered 1a and 1b of their team? Or was Simmons clearly the better player?

I don't know. If I remember correctly, going back before we drafted Russell and going through some high school stuff, I want to say it was Russell taking the big shots. I don't know who the better player was, though.

Honestly, if we were starting from scratch, I'd probably take Simmons over Russell. They both seem to have excellent feel for the game, IQ and court vision. Russell can currently shoot better, but you can't teach freakish size and athleticism.

That size for Simmons. Yeah, I agree. Russell just seems to have more of a knack for big moments, though, in his early career. Simmons doesn't have that, yet, but that could change. No doubt. Imagine if we land both Russell+Simmons, though. Sweet.

Yeah I don't watch high school (or much of college) basketball either. If I were to guess, Simmons was probably better, because Russell wasn't really considered a Top 3 prospect until he broke out in college.

    Russell: born 2-23-96
    Simmons: born 7-20-96
    Ingram: born 9-2-97

Russell and Ingram are the same age. Ingram is more than a year and a half younger than Russell. That's crazy.

That would definitely work I think. Watching the Finals has reminded me that supreme athleticism is invaluable. If you were to align Russell's ceiling as Curry and Simmons' as Lebron, I'd take the latter. Curry can be slowed down. Lebron can't. But yeah, two of them together would be sweet lol

That was hilarious. Good to make light of an altogether dumb situation.

Overall, I'm happy with the way DAR dealt with that whole thing. Hopefully, it was a learning experience he'll gain more maturity from.

Man none of those guys are actors. :D

But I'm glad he can make a joke about it. That's the best way to move forward from something like this.

Hahaha, I knew they were going to go with the phone angle with Russ in this. I swear as soon as I saw a group picture of those guys days ago talking about working with Foot Locker I knew we had a Russ phone joke coming. Screw this Russ trade talk, especially for a top 5 pick, dude has star potential. Get Nick the hell out of here, not Russ. I've seen people on Twitter calling him a snitch and poisonous to the team daily still and I just don't get it. This is a nothing incident to me, it's over with, move on.
