Ballmer in that article concedes they are third in the pole behind us and the Kings who have more championships than they do. Hell, I have two more championships than the Clippers...courtesy of a Salvation Army League and a local Rec one. :) I reckon some here have the same type of bragging rights... Losers them Clippers.

I've heard they're more like 4th behind big concert events. Taylor Swift is obvious, but other artists like Adele come through there and dominate Staples for a month and they get to make changes. I've heard the Clippers have almost no control of the stadium at all.

It's all a leverage play, but hopefully it forces them out to Seattle.

If Ballmer moves them to Seattle then they would be more accepted...that is if the Seahawks falter or have a dry spell.

Just leave. Seattle would be perfect. Great basketball town that needs a team. It's his hometown. Go back home, sir.

shroud Sterling's tenure as an NBA owner in history, and bring the SONICS back, no Seattle Clipper BS. Balmer will build the stadium with Microsoft money, and have GP and Kemp at the press conference. The thing writes itself lol. I don't see how the NBA doesn't want to push for this

Why is this an issue 8 years before they can get out of their Staples Center lease? Doesn't this mean that they can't go anywhere until 2024

Nonetheless Seattle's still growing and a basketball team would be great for the economy. But unless there are ways to get out of a lease early I just don't see this as pertinent.

Timing is an issue. If they have to build their own stadium, they'll need to scout for land, buy it, "develop" it, then start new construction on it. They're early, but not that early in the process.

Cuban is evaluating the same thing in Dallas. 7 years needed to pull it off.

I was in Dallas, Texas area last weekend with my wife visiting relatives. On Friday 6 of us were treated to free tickets to see the Rangers play the Royals in Texas's park. Walking to the stadium from the fringe parking area across this pretty park like area you could see the Cowboys' stadium which looked to be 1/2 mile or more away. The person taking us to the game said they jokingly around there call it the Death Star because it looks so Huge off in the distance.

He also said that 15 year old TX stadium is going by the wayside already soon as possible. Some developer and city councils must have been given a good story and plan because they have green lighted a brand new domed stadium probably in that same area. Heat and humidity though, yeah you could see why. It was around 100-102 in the valley when we left and the same there pretty much the whole time. But wow what a difference the humidity makes. Am sure the players will dig it.
