If I'm Ollie I would most definitely want a heavy say so in roster decisions. He's an all business type of guy and I'm betting he's been watching this Laker front office in action the past few years creating the dumpster fire we've had to endure. He will create a new Laker culture replacing what has evolved into a clipperesque culture but to do that he must get his type of players, no clowns like Young, no roster spots taken up by the likes of Sacre and Kelly, no no D guys like Williams or dinosaurs like Hibbert. No guys out acting the fool with Young about town...This Laker FO has created this mess, imagine if they would have resigned Bazemore for less than 3 mil instead of keeping Young at 5 mil, and had him mentoring Russell, Randle and Clarkson. Ollie will make sure this kind of roster move never happens on his watch...Yes I'm definitely on the Ollie bandwagon, and reading all these posts about his upside has strengthened my opinion.

luke's connection to phil is making me hope they hire either ollie or messina. i would just absolutely hate to see phil come back once again in any capacity with this team. it's time we finally move on from him

ollie is #1 for me. i think out of all the potential coaches he would make the biggest impact when it comes to FA signings

This supports my theory that JEANIE BUSS is the problem. I think she was trying to keep Scott so that we suck again and then she can fire her brother and bring back Phil. I also think the KFT was HER idea to keep the Lakers relevant and distract us from how bad we really were....I mean she is on the business side after all.

and that's exactly why i feel that this team won't have any success as long as the buss kids are calling the shots

it'll never happen but selling the team would be the best thing that could happen to the lakers right now

Yeah, I have a bad feeling about Jeanie. I have no idea why everyone acts like Jim is the scapegoat holding back Jeanie from saving our franchise when there's no evidence that she has any idea what she's doing yet either.

I truly believe that Jeanie is the problem. Her agenda is to get Phil back to LA....so she was sabotaging her brother in an attempt to make that happen. But Jim and Mitch were too smart for that and I BET YOU if it werren't for stupid KFT and Jeanie's insistence on keeping Scott...he woulda been fired mid-season. I just hope Jim and Mitch make the right coaching hire.

Both them turds are the problem. They operate independently. Like the recent interview where Jeanie says she had no idea Byron was going to be fired and didn't expect it. Like STFU all you are doing is making it look like the FO is a mess and divided. Really helps the FA pitch when that was one of the reasons people were shying away from LA. She's as much to blame as anyone, but she sits back and smiles while her bro takes all the heat. It's so damn obvious she wants Phil here. Kick em both out and let them go back to their high chairs until they can play nice. It's embarrassing having them speak and never be on the same page.

The one who drafted Bynum, one of my favorite players ever.

I literally think Jeannie might be a witch because she actually looks hotter now than she did in that picture.

I truly believe the Lakers will be irrelevant until the Buss's sell the team. Take the 4 billion and just go away...and take Phil with ya...I've heard many talking heads push for the Lakers to bring Jerry West back as President of basketball operations, which would certainly expedite this total rebuild. When asked about going back to the Lakers he said "I don't think they want me back" ...a telling statement to me, it's not a secret he and Phil hate each other...

    My list:

    1. Ollie
    2. Walton
    3. Messina
    4. everyone else.

I'm not too high on JVG because he has been out of the league for long. I think we need a young coach. I don't want any Cavs leftovers (David Blatt).

Ollie in my opinion offers the best combination of proven, young and hungry. Walton is still not proven enough and a gamble but a gamble by popular demand. Messina has the credibility but even he doesn't have a ton of head coaching experience in the NBA.

    Exactly my thoughts.

Ollie makes more sense than any of the others because he checks off pretty much all of the boxes I want in a coach. Young enough to become a coaching icon for the franchise. Known as a great baseball mind. Winning record and experiance at the highest level of college coaching. And a proven record of being able to teach young players, and shape them into a winning team.

    Sign me up.

Wow, that quote is telling. Mix that with the reports that Jeanie was the one pushing for B0ron to stay another year, and you can see a clear agenda forming. She most likely didn't want him fired because as you say she wants Phil here, she didn't want a new coach hired on a long term deal. Now Mitch and Jim can go out and look for a new coach, maybe give them a 4/5 year deal, and that puts a little hitch in her plans. This is a mess man, a mess. Jeanie should not say publicly that she didn't see this coming, and she should be keeping her professional and personal life separate. You don't hire your (soon to be?) husband as team president, as even if he does a horrible job, you won't fire him. That's an even worse position to be in than we are now.

The disconnect within Laker management is disturbing. Reading everyone's objective takes, I'm on the Ollie Train... A capable prospect that will grow with the core and is modern enough to relate. Ollie and Ryan West can probably forge a good working relationship. Luke was second. The Phil Jackson string though? Eeesh...
