There's a very short list of coaches that would make me lose my s*** if we hired them. Mark Jackson, Mike Dunleavy, Rambis come to mind immediately. I'm sure there's a couple more too.

I'm also a little iffy on Luke. His stint this season with Golden State is definitely not enough proof that he's going to be a great coach. He would be a gamble, but a gamble I'd be willing to take. Moderate risk, very high reward IMO.

Lakers expected to compile a "long list" of coaching candidates to replace Scott. “It’ll be a lot,” said a person familiar with the process.

I wonder what they mean by a lot. I guess they will be looking at college and oversea coaches also because there aren't that many NBA coaches available. I don't mind doing a thorough search but I don't want them losing out on candidates because they are interviewing every Tom, d*** and Harry.

We're probably a longshot to get him, but I'd try to grab Mike Budenholzer from the Hawks. I believe his contract ends this season.

I also agree that Luke is inexperienced, but beggars can't be choosers.

I have to post the full quote that Cookie referenced on the last page from Ramona, it's too good

You sucked, Byron, so we're not picking up your option. Love it, absolutely love it. They gave themselves an early out for Byron if he sucked, that almost tells me they had a feeling he would, and his hire was probably a feel good one, nostalgia, and possibly to get lottery picks. I'm confused, yet I don't even care now that he's gone.

WOW!!! I'm so incredibly stoked to hear this news!! Yes, it was too late to get Thibs who would have brought us instant credibility, but if I'm honest this isn't a Thibs type roster. And the price was too steep given everything he received from the Wolves. So . . . let's get a Head Coach who only does that for his job description. I'm not that bummed about missing out on Scotty Brooks - he would have been an upgrade over Boron but almost anyone would be.

So cool to hear about the option they had on him, that was not revealed before. I'm looking forward to hearing that the next hire is a good one. We've been so snake bitten over the past few. I'd be more than happy to roll the dice with Luke. Young coach for a young squad, fine by me. I think he has what it takes. Guess we'll see what happens next!

But now it's time to rejoice as Boron, the worst coach in Laker history, is done. Whew!!!

For weeks I've lobbied for his firing
Stayed up late nights on photoshop perspiring
    Dreaming of bYRON possibly expiring
Or at the very least retiring

I'm sitting next to my friend
When I hear a familiar tone
It sounded like the door bell rung
But instead it was my cell phone

    I check my texts
    And I checked my twitter
    Checked for scores on ESPN
While I sat on the s***ter

    What I saw was shocking!
    Moreso than bYRON's twitter blocking
    byronblock.png
It was an awesome and inspiring
    Blurb about bYRON Scott's firing

    Historical day as a Laker
When bYRON met his coaching maker
The ONLY result that was desirable
    bYRON is no longer hirable

    You sucked so incredibly bad
At what you called your dream job
That those weren't fans gathered to see you
    But Instead a lynch mob

Soon your wretched smell will pass
    As will all of Showtime
I'm sure the fans will soon forget you
And it will happen in no time.

    We drank more beers
    With our fellow peers
    In just two years
    To drown our tears

    But cheers!!!!
    :Beertoast2:
In place of our worst fears
    bYRON instead disappears
    While Laker Nation Perseveres!!!

Great, great news. Byron was just an awful basketball coach. Now we at least know the front office is taking rebuilding seriously. To add to it seeing the list of candidates. Luke, Blatt, Ollie, Messini, is a huge, huge upgrade over who they interviewed a few seasons ago. Finally they're getting with the times and our future doesn't look so bleak now.

Ollie is my preference, he might have a Brad Stevens type impact for this roster. And the fact that we might get a chance with a certain gangling elbow smashing sweet shooting superstar

Keep in mind the last three hires were just about the worst three people available. I'm presuming, until proven wrong, our next coach will be Marc Jackson, Kurt Rambis or David Blatt.

Honestly, what we need is someone similar to Brad Stevens in demeanor and coaching style.

if only our FO was as a good as that sniveling douchebag Ainge, we could have had someone like Stevens instead of retreads
