LOL. But see where you're coming from with that clan having its hooks in him now too. Yikes.

I was only partly joking. How many people have come out on the winning end after a Kardashian relationship? If we can ship him and our pick out together to get a really solid player, I'd do it in a New York minute.

Because, at 23, he dates some celeb?

    Da hell?

Clarkson is an RFA which means if we attempted a sign-and-trade, he'd have to accept the destination. If he wanted to, he could freeze the trade. He has no real reason to help us out that way. Maybe he doesn't want to play for Chicago or Sacramento or wherever we'd try to send him.

I'm with you, I'm just saying there's issues trying to move him.

Also, I don't care much who he dates.

I don't care who he dates, but the Kardashians are different. You're not just dating a girl. You're dating a lifestyle and an Empire of sorts. Who he dates and how he dates them isn't my business. But you know as well as I do, he isn't just stepping into a relationship with a woman. It's a complete lifestyle shift.

At the level game they're playing, everything is already shifted my friend. So far he's not getting married and doesn't have a reality show. I think he'll be okay.

Being a sports celebrity is a different beast than being a Kardashian celebrity. Odom was a good player. Probably better than Clarkson will ever be. But he was only sports famous before Khloe. Now? Tabloids, paparazzi...that is a different animal. The article I linked wasn't in the MSN Sports section. It was in the MSN Entertainment section. It was an Entertainment Tonight article. How many times was Odom on the cover of magazines before Khloe...and after Khloe?

Look, I'm not saying he will absolutely go down that road. But any part of me that held him in a special place in my heart or any partiality I had towards him over someone of equal value cause he was "our little gem we uncovered" is gone now.

    I think you're overreacting man. :D

He's just a kid who is having some fun with another famous kid. I'm not overthinking this and I suspect neither is he. If we start seeing "Clarkson/Kendal Take Hollywood" signs then I'll be concerned. Otherwise, I don't see the issue. Plenty of LA stars have had LA relationships that were stupid, silly and amounted to nothing.

My overreaction, if I am indeed doing so, is probably just related to the state of our team. It has been a circus for years now. Even the Kobe farewell tour was more about putting on a show than basketball. I just want the team to get back to being a basketball team. Whether it be the whole Clarkson/Swaggy in the car fiasco. Clarkson dating a Kardashian. D'Angelo videotaping Nick. Byron being a stereotypical hard-a** for no reason. Our front office looking more like a high school social ladder. This team barely qualifies as a "basketball team" and feels like a reality show.

I'm not going to lie. I do wonder if the almost unlimited access given to Time Warner is having a negative effect on the team. I realize a lot of things happened that were out of TW's control, but I can't imagine the 24/7 news cycle surrounding this team is a good thing. The Texas Longhorns haven't been relevant since they started their Longhorn Network. Part of me wonders if this amount of media coverage warps their sense of reality a bit.

I don't think so. I think what warped their reality was Kobe.

He was this legendary figure, but behind the scenes I don't think he was there much. He was making his own documentary, literally having separate camera crews follow them around in addition to TWC guys. He wouldn't show up to practice and showed up maybe twice a week with this crew around. It must have been INSANELY distracting. Without him around, I think things come back to normal a bit. A small crew following them around isn't really all that different from any other team at this point. The only difference is ours is more constant and the footage is shown on their own network. Every one of these guys has a camera on them 98% of the day though even if you're not on the Lakers.

i don't think the TWC thing is a distraction, like realdeal said, these guys are very used to having a camera on them

kobe's retirement tour would have been the only major distraction and i can't even imagine how much of a distraction that was

I don't think so. Maybe Knicks, Lakers and Heat...and the Cavs cause you share a locker room with Lebron. But cameras aren't following Greg Monroe around Milwaukee. :D I think all the cameras in the entire city of Milwaukee are likely located in that arena. I mean, they are still using flip phones there, right?

You know what's crazy? While I was typing I was thinking to myself, "Even Greg Monroe probably has cameras following him around." :D

Maybe I have the timeline confused, but didn't Lamar have his best years for us after getting with Khloe?

From what I've heard, Kendall is the most low key of all the Kardashians.

I see this as good news. He has more of an incentive to stay in LA. How are you gonna sell the celebrity/fame aspect of LA to free agents and then get upset when even our second round pick from a few years ago hooks up with the most powerful celebrity family out there?

Yes, Kendall is relatively the most "normal" and drama free of the bunch, but i'm not sure that means anything.

On the same note, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

So much to do about the Kardashians.

Yeah, they're famous for nothing of real note, but they also aren't a bunch of terrible people. You don't hear about them attacking anyone, or physically fighting, or trying to mess with people's lives. They just seem to like the fame and a bit of fakeness and drama that comes with always being around cameras, but honestly, if that's the worst aspect of that family, they aren't so bad.

I will worry when JC gets influenced by Kendall's father, goes under the knife and tries out for the WNBA thereafter...
