Seems like Thibs wants Van Gundy type control. He won't get that here (and I'm not sure he deserves it). I guess we'll have to pass.

^ Pass. Go after Luke and Ollie. I want a young coach, that can stay here for 10+ years.

As much as I like Thibs I'm never a fan of giving a coach that much power. Coaching is hard enough, but having to make decisions and bringing players in and out I just think that's too much on a coach's plate.

No. I have great respect for Thibs, but... no. We need a young coach who does not want that much power.

    That won't happen here.

Thibs probably wants control after all the crap that happened in Chicago. We should talk to him anyway to see how serious he is about it.

That being said, folks said the same thing about SVG when he wanted that much power from the Pistons and received it. He's done a decent job there.

    Season 1 (2014-2015)
    32-50 (.390)

    Season 2 (2015-2016)
    44-38 (.537)

Doc Rivers has done an okay job with the Clippers with the same amount of control. They're no better or worse than they were under Vinny D.

But I'd rather Thibs focused his efforts soley on coaching and developing the young guys. No side projects.

A coach can not do an effective job as a GM. Period. Working contacts daily, hell to the no. This isn't college. The Clips should be WAY better than they are.

Not sure if it was already posted ... the tweet is dated from 4/13.

This would facilitate the fire of Jim by Jeanie then bring Phil in and he would choose his coach .

Yeah I'm not sure that makes much sense. That creates a vision of discontent much deeper than I can imagine. Jeanie would have to have complete disdain for Mitch, Jim, the fan base, and all the players to sink the team on purpose just to bring in her husband. She'd lose millions of dollars, fans, and basically all her goodwill with anyone. That's a complete crap move.

I also have serious doubts that Berger has Laker insiders that others don't.

If Byron is kept around, It wouldn't be some nefarious, villainous plot to get her brother fired. It'd be because she's a softy and is friends with Byron and wants to preserve that friendship.

If Jeannie is pushing to keep B0ron, it would either mean that either she has that evil plot you detailed going on, or she knows absolutely nothing about basketball. I don't believe either scenario is likely. How could she grow up around the Lakers and not know basketball, plus be engaged to Phil and watch him closely for years and know nothing, no way.

Maybe to her the "family ties" are more important?

Kobe isn't here to put butts in seats anymore so if BS is back, I hope Staples Center is empty, TV ratings go down. Maybe then the FO will finally see.

So Lakers want Durant and Scotty Brooks is sitting there saying he's interested in the Lakers, but Jeanie is lobbying for Byron to come back.

Wtf is this franchise doing? SMFH!

i think thibs is a really bad fit in la, and I'm not sold on scott brooks as a good coach (seems like avery Johnson redux to me).

I'd take brooks over thibs, and many, many others over either.

and my 2 year old daughter over scott.

The absolute only argument you can come up with that isn't a) she's sadistic or b) she's stupid is c) she's naive and sentimental. I honestly think the "family" aspect is that important to her. She's clearly someone desperate for approval and I'm sure she hates it when someone doesn't like her. I wouldn't ever call her stupid, but she might just be that naive.

I also think it's all smokescreen. It's all garbage. Our Front Office has no accidental leaks. That doesn't ever happen here. When something hits the media it's because someone has an agenda. Who would leak something like that? I don't know, but I sincerely doubt it was an accident and I sincerely doubt it's the truth.

The reason they may be defending Scott may be the same reason Thibs is insisting on GM and Coaching duties. It may just be ploys to improve their negotiating position.

Also a good point, but I'm thinking to myself what good does this do? What good comes from Jeanie wanting Byron to stick around?

Maybe to build goodwill? As in our franchise desperately tries to give their coaches as much opportunity as possible? Or maybe a dollars and cents argument? They're trying to get other coaches to come in for less money?

I don't get why Jeannie would need to lobby for Scott. She's the top boss.

If she doesn't want him fired, he won't be fired.
