It's about timing I think. We're in Year 2 of our rebuilding phase and it's way too early to start trading assets. Maybe in another 2-3 years we can have this conversation. But for now, we'll have to wait and see which of our young assets will step up and flourish. There's a long road ahead but recent history shows there are no shorcuts to sustained success.
Julius is the only young player I wouldn't trade today and even with that I would question right now if trading Russell would be wise.
Very clutch by Julius. He had a nice coast to coast that was reminiscent of a guy sitting in the stands Lamar Odom. By the way great to see Lamar and that he's doing well. Love that Julius wanted the ball. Thought he was gonna settle for a jump shot, but had a smaller man on him and beautiful spin move. Also love the celebration at the end.
Huge shot, was great to see him get a game-winner. Was even better to see him, JC, and Russ celebrating together immediately after. That's our future, we need them to be together in this.
I've made no bones about this kid being my favorite and THAT is why. The guy is a winner and has supreme confidence in himself. I love it. He waived off the team to take the shot and they responded to it. Amazing.
Our three young guys have shown they want the ball in their hands in crunch time and he ability to make clutch plays. That's a great sign for the future. None of them will get happy feet like a certain someone who used to play for the team we just beat.
Randle is still trying to figure out The League and will refine his overall game. Once he does both, he will be even better. Confident, poised with an "IDGAF" attitude.
As he should be and as Russell is as well. Unless we're getting a legit superstar these guys are going nowhere. They're the future.
Thank you Sir! And CaCHooKa you lucky bastard lol. Happy for you to have been at the game. Must have been a lot of fun for a change...
So glad to see Julius get some love here. Like realdeal, I've made no bones about how much I dig this kid. Last night he demonstrated that Alpha gene that I thought he had. He just doesn't have the tools yet to do this on a regular basis in my opinion. The spin move down low is his go to and he uses that very effectively against smaller opponents. But he needs to develop that arsenal further and he'll be golden. I'd love to see the step back in the post as it's hard to guard and a guy like Boozer made his living off it as a smaller sized PF.
Oh his repertoire needs a LOT of work. He needs that mid-range jumper down, I want to see more precise footwork, where is his post game at? I think it's incredible how much more growth he has in him and yet he's out here getting double-doubles like an NBA veteran. Maybe he doesn't have the "star" potential of D'Angelo Russell to the masses, but I still see greatness in this kid.
For sure, realdeal. I know he doesn't have the smoothness of Russell, but to me he has a charisma and a draw that I think screams "star." Maybe not superstar, but at least star. I can't wait to see him develop more moves and hopefully improve his D under a much better coach. I'm so glad he fell to us at number 7.
