The guys on The Vertical were saying the Lakers would do well to reach out to Thibs because players at least know he's a good coach. Free Agents can look around, see Byron and realize that this team is going to stink because he sucks. Thibs might not be perfect, but he makes us more attractive to FAs and he'll do a better job overall.

I'd prefer Luke, but I agree completely: Byron HAS to go. He's done nothing but fail this season and that failure shouldn't be rewarded with more opportunity.

It's like we're watching some Shakespearian tragedy play out before our eyes in slow motion. The great king who ruled his kingdom wisely yet in private raised idiot children, dies and leaves his vast domain to be run by said children. They proceed to ruin in a few years everything he spent a lifetime building.

I've heard different things and multiple reports. Instead of getting worked up on it, I'll just wait and see what happens...

To be fair to the great Jerry Buss, I think he tried his best to set up his family to succeed and to keep the legacy going for the future. I believe that Jeannie is smart and I think that she's cut of the same cloth as Jerry business-wise. Jim is the one who was more passionate about the game and was brought in to the loop for that reason. And I'll grant that Jim has done a good job along with Mitch and Ryan in drafting young players. But he needs to stay the hell away from coaching hires which have really done us in since he took over that role.

It remains to be seen if this system that Jerry laid out with Jeannie head of the business portion and Jim with basketball will work out. So far, obviously the basketball side has come up way short with our two worst seasons ever following another terrible one by D' Antoni.

We need to turn this ship around. I feel like that could be coming, but I'm still not sure of what the basketball side is going to do. They have a long way to go. We need a new coach, we need to get some free agents and with any luck it would be great to keep the pick.

I don't buy that Jeannie is without blame. there is a massive divide between her and her brother. She's only talked to Byron, the coach of her team twice since he started? Just the lack of communication between her and all the basketball side is something her Dad would have NEVER allowed.

Byron has one more guaranteed year on his contract. There's no guarantee that Luke or Thibs are coming over here, so of course Ireland is going to say that.

But she isn't Jerry Buss. That's the point. He set it up so that she was in charge of the business and her brother the basketball. Jerry was in charge of both. That's what I'm saying . . . we'll have to see if what he set up will succeed or not.

Right now the business side is actually doing fairly well. They are still selling seats because of the Kobe farewell tour. The basketball side? Not so much. Now she has turned up the heat a bit on the basketball side noting that her brother's timeline is still in play but they need to get on it to deliver what they promised. To me that's still smart business. She knows that winning is what ultimately matters and will keep the franchise relevant.

Heard that today as well. Like I said, more than likely that means that he's in on the tank and he's going to be rewarded for being the good commander, unfortunately. I'm still hoping they at least explore offering the job to Luke.

    For bigs? Okay.

For guards? More like 2-3 years.

He genuinely made me laugh tonight. Calls a timeout with .7 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, draws up a halfcourt shot for poor Huertas. Stupidest coach I've ever seen, even Billy Mac and Stu were laughing at him and mocking his stupid a**.

    IDIOT.

    MORON.

    j******.

    CLOWN.

    INCOMPATENT.

    AWFUL.

    TERRIBLE.

Seriously dude playing Russ 25 minutes? What the f*** do we have to gain by playing Huertas and Lou? Nothing and we have everything to gain by getting the kids experience. You said you were gonna play them more you piece of garbage. Get the f*** out already man seriously. You're destroying this franchise.

Pulling the kids after a bad start and then you have the audacity to stick with the veterans when they routinely do nothing. You're GARBAGE Byron matter of fact garbage should be insulted comparing it to you. I don't care how much the young guys struggle let them play because they're the future and they've more than earned minutes.

Playing Ryan Kelly. Jesus what a joke. The dude CANT play. How much more evidence do you need? Playing him at the freaking 3 no less. He has the most inexplicable rotations. I know Nick has struggled, but he can't be worse than Kelly or Metta. It's like three on five when they're out there.

Genius play at the end of the 3rd Q. I honestly believe he's mentally ill.

Who cares? Dude should fired anyway. It's not like those are the only candidates out there. The guy is the worst coach in NBA history. If the Lakers retain him they're basically saying we don't care about signing free agents, don't care about the young guys development, don't care about winning. I don't see any upside or reason to keep him and if they do everyone needs to get the f*** out. It's unacceptable that it's even being considered. The guy can't coach. It's blatantly obvious to anyone with two eyes.

^^ Yeah, it's maddening really. So many coaches were fired this year and they were all doing better than Boron. Why is he even being considered to retain his job after he's going to bring us another failure of a year - WORSE than last year of all things!! He's going to end up with probably half of the wins that we all expected from him this year. HALF!!!! Worst record in franchise history. It just makes you go nuts to hear this garbage.
