His shots seemed to be coming up short a lot and yet he finished 8/19 which isn't so bad. He and Clarkson and Randle just carry themselves a little different when Kobe is playing. They are so intent on giving him the ball, they almost handicap themselves. Clearly they feel like they're capable of playing without him and I have to admit I agree. However, they're not about to be the kids to take away from Kobe's last game vs. LeBron so... instead they'll just ease off the gas a little.

It's pretty damn impressive that D'Angelo didn't play his best game and he still ended up with 24/5/4. That's incredible.

We (and DAR) should not focus on three-point shots. They are easy to defend. :Headpoint:

Except when our opponents are shooting them, it seems.

Of course, haha. Seriously now, three-point shooting is so essential in modern basketball. You have to be able to spread the floor. And Russ developed so quickly in this respect. He will be a star player in this league for sure, as long as he can stay healthy.

I hope he can become a big enough star so that he can fire the coach like Magic fired Westhead or like Kobe fired Mike Brown.

I'll admit I was wrong about him this season. I was one of the ones who wanted Okafor and I didn't see what others saw. It's clear that not only can he play at this level, he has a high ceiling and has star potential and leadership ability.

Wow, that's awesome. Really great to see the work ethic and love of the game.

If Russell averaged 23.7 per game for the season, he'd be 9th in the NBA, between Russell Westbrook and Paul George.

What if the difference between DAR and Kobe worked out like DAR as a rookie being in the playoffs against Utah in that elimination game, and he also takes it upon himself to take those clutch 4 shots that Kobe air balled? But after the first maybe .... or the 2nd air ball .... DAR "figures it out" and drains the next 2?

It's pretty clear that if he had had a good coach instead of the troll that Byron Scott was to him this year, he very well "might" have been over 20 a game. No fear of getting yanked every time he pushed the envelope in checking out his capabilities at the NBA level. How many times has he replied and hinted to us that we are just getting "glimpses" of what he knows already he's capable of doing out there on the floor. At least twice lately that I recall. Super confident kid. In the face of Boron trying to break him down. Couldn't do it, but sure f***** up his and Randle's rookie seasons.

Hell yeah he does ..... major happy surprise. Does not suck to be 6'5" tall and coordinated and smart and quick, even with only puny man muscles this year. (I really want to say "girly man" in these kinds of situations, as it was part of our funny Pop culture from SNL. But am afraid of getting a PC demerit? Would that happen? )

Saw a Gatorade commercial with him last night. Nice... Poised to be the face of the franchise it seems with the floor game to merit.

    Mychal Thompson earlier today:
"You can't be showing off like that like what Russell did last week, that 'Ice in my veins' stuff. You've won 12 games, what are you celebrating for. You need to be winning to celebrate (or show off, forgot exactly what he said) and have the game to back it up."

Also Steph would get beaten up by Oscar Robertson!

And I walked uphill both ways 10 miles to school back in my day!

I am beginning to dislike Thompson too. Can't win with bad coaching. Can't win with the dicey mix of developing the kids and the 24 Last Hurray Show. Difficult to win lacking continuity, consistency and game plans that cater to the strengths of personnel.

He's a radio analyst that obviously can't see any of the above. Oh and Russell has the game to back it up. Just being monitored albeit a bit too tight.
