Seems like a great find so far. Hope he continues to grow into a solid contributor on both ends for years to come. Big men with his timing on contesting shots as well as his touch around the rim on offense are rare. Keep it up, Edward!
He and Randle together should be our PF's going forward if we can get him to sign a Nick Young style contract for multiple years, but at a slightly reduced rate.
Seems like this guy just needed some minutes and some confidence. I cant see how other teams got his style of play in practice against their starting bigs and were like, "Yeah, this guy is trash, not even worth having for depth."
I don't know if he can be a real PF these days because he can't shoot at all outside of the paint. I think he's as close to a throw back Center as you can get these days, just a bit shorter than you'd like for a starter. Definitely those two should be two of our bigs going forward though. If damn Kelly could figure out his hamstrings, maybe he could join the club, but so far he's been a disappointment. Ed Davis looks like the steal of the summer though. Fantastic touch near the rim with both hands. Awesome help defender and decent post defender (fouls a lot). What I love though is the decision making on both ends. He has an incredibly inflated FG percentage because he ONLY takes great shots. I love that about him. I'd also like for him to make some damn free throws. I'd give him 4/20 million. I might go further if he keeps this up.
I don't like his size for guarding centers. That's the only reason I'd want to pencil him in at PF. I know he doesn't have an outside shot, but I think it's the fact that Randle and Kelly do that makes him a viable change of pace player for the team weather it's off the bench, or starting.
I agree with that. I think honestly he's just a player. A really solid big man and whether he's technically playing Center or Power Forward, it's not really important because he'll go out there and positively affect the game.
Contract years are definitely tricky in the NBA and the fully guaranteed contracts... NBA would be a lot better if contracts werent that way, because than you could possibly give Davis and other similar type situations in play extensions with only XX amount guaranteed.
