Melo also reportedly wants to recruit Rondo. If that happens...

Rondo, Melo, and Dwight - the trio of overrated stars.

^They could give the Cavs outright competition...even if they do appear to be a combustible bunch.

Hm...I'm not so sure about that.

Lets put it this way. I think we can all agree that Cousins is better than Dwight now. Rudy Gay is a poor man's Carmelo. The Kings with Rondo, Gay, and Cousins are a below average team (currently at about a 40% win rate).

    Rondo
    Gay
    Cousins

    vs

    Rondo
    Melo
    Dwight

Is the latter really much better than the former to the point where they can challenge the Cavs? I don't think so. I think both trios are similar. I also think Dwight/Rondo would make for a bad combination with poor spacing, poor free throw shooting, and high turnovers. Strapping your cap space to those 3 players sounds to me like you're getting ready for years of mediocrity.

Then, you factor in age. Melo will be 32 next year. Dwight will be 31. Rondo will be 30/31. I can't see them challenging the Cavs.

Yeah, have fun with that giant baby, Phil. I'm sure he'll make the triangle look beautiful with his awesome post game.

He can be interested in a lot of places. If he puts out, no one will pay him what he is making this season. Obviously it's to get years, but my how the "mighty" have fallen.
