LeBron's game is ugly. He jumps high, he's big and strong and a powerful athlete, all-time great, but it's still ugly to me. His jumper is ugly, he doesn't have some amazing handles or anything like some of the fancy stuff Curry showcases, and he has like 2 dunks. Hard with 1 hand or hard with 2 hands, it's boring.
How does Curry do this?? That was a 33-foot shot, less than 1 sec left on the shot clock. Splash! Video game stuff, for real.
No other player other than Kobe (and maybe Durant at times) has entertained me like Curry. Man I hope DLO becomes a major guy for us.
How are you supposed to defend that? I get what the Big O was saying, the game isn't physical anymore, it used to be very physical, hell, Knicks games in the 90's were almost like football games, but you can't guard pulling up from 35 feet. What do you do other than throw multiple guys at him or put a hand up? He's gonna get the shot over you, get fouled, or if you throw 2 or 3 guys at him he's going to find the open man for a good play because he's a smart PG as well.
I'm still marveling at this shot. I've never heard Mike Breen go so nuts, not even over his boy LeBron (who Curry is making people forget exists), I'm picturing him spitting everywhere "BAAANG! BAAAANG!", lol. I keep watching the replay, Draymond Green's reaction/face was hilarious.
He's going to break the 12 threes in a game record at some point right? He has to, he's making them like layups. I don't even care if he breaks this record, I want to see it even, I want to see 14, 15, hell, 20 made threes in a game.
You can't even do this sort of thing in a video game. 2K developers came out and said they don't know how to program him. As for the Curry vs Lebron Impact discussion... Curry became the best player in the league naturally, he wasn't media made like Lebron was, that's why he has my pull. Plus like many have said, he's a a magician with the ball. The way he handles it, passes it, and just throws it through the hoop. lebron is a physical specimen but his game is very one dimensional, he just powers through everyone, no finesse. His dunks are always the same thing, and for a guy that strong he tends to flip a lot. And yes, he's the best shooter in the game. He can shoot it from anywhere. From a pass or a dribble move. Off a screen or a fadeaway. With no one in front of him or a 6-10 guy with his arm outstretched.
Man we saw some history tonight. Most threes in a season broken with 20-some games left, tied for most threes in a game, first player with 10+ threes in consecutive games. And yes, I find Curry infinitely more likeable and easy to root for than LeBron, fair or not. He's the little guy, he's not supposed to dominate a big man's game. I remember being wowed watching him at Davidson, scrawny little guy carrying a school I'd never heard of to places they shouldn't be, and this is on another level, and I don't think anyone saw it coming even then. You could see he was special, but I'd think almost everyone was thinking if they weren't saying it, that it wasn't going to carry over to the NBA. When has not taking a timeout with 5 seconds left and pulling up from 30+ feet on purpose been the SMART play before? They take a timeout there, maybe you let the Thunder set up some better D on Curry. But that he wants to just go, and has you at a disadvantage trying to stay in front of him so he doesn't blow by AND up close enough so he doesn't hit the 3, and pulls up from 32 (correction per SportsCenter, 38) feet for what is a GOOD shot for him, unreal. It's not a desperation heave, it's a good shot, I think I'd have been more surprised if that shot didn't go in than if it did.
With his scoring ability and god-like shooting, he could surpass Kobe's 81 points too if he wants. He is absolutely insane.
