The front office was ripped by pretty much every ESPN show today. The heat is finally getting turned up on them. Byron is a goner

He has to be fired. I mean literally everyone outside of the Lakers organization is destroying Byron and the Lakers for allowing this atrocity to continue. With the public heat only increasing I don't see how they could possibly bring him back.

There's not a chance Byron makes it through. I don't think Jeanie is the one who supports him. I think the support is from Mitch and to a lesser extent Jim. They're the ones who hired him. Mitch and Byron are close. Jeanie is hearing the outside noise about another coach who wasn't her pick (remember D'Antoni over Phil?).

Byron will go though. There's no way they keep him around. Too much negative press AND a lack of production.

Which shows? Max and Marcellus were defending Byron. Mason and Ireland didn't say much.

If not Jeanie or Mitch that would leave baseball cap Jimmy. Picking coaches is like picking horse trainers .... or something like that.

The only ones I saw defend B0ron on ESPN today were Wilbon, who says B0ron is right in his old school ways of being a harda** and telling the rooks to "earn it", and Jackie Macmullan on ATH. Macmullan said something along the lines of she's heard Russell and Randle had their agents go to the FO to complain about B0ron for them. She said it like it was a bad thing, as if they just didn't want to practice, go to work and earn it, but if it's true I don't blame them because our coach is a clueless moron.

I firmly believe that THEY believe Byron needs more time. There's significant chatter behind the scenes that the players are not talented enough to win games and that Byron's handling of the situation has been at least adequate. I don't believe so. I think there's definitely enough evidence to show that Byron, AT BEST, has not made a bad situation better. If you want to see what a good coach does with a bad team look at Brad Stevens. That's what happens though when you hire your friend I guess. It's hard to see the truth.

Mitch is not perfect, but he is a very intelligent and observant guy. I believe he has to see Byron's glaring flaws. But, Mitch has one big blindspot. He is also a very loyal guy, and at times I think his loyalty inclination may overshadow his better judgment.

B0ron's planning for the future should be opening some quality savings account that builds over time, or making some safe investments, because he's never getting an NBA coaching job again.

Good, so Byron's not totally oblivious to the fact that he is being evaluated.

It's going to shock and amaze .... the new lineups and rotations these coming days. What should have been happening from day one will now finally be employed by Byron.

I see it this way : We better keep our draft pick , if not it will be another season of tanking with Boron in charge to attempt to get another high pick in 2017 .

Actually, even if we lose it, I think it could be another season of tanking with Boron if we strike out on big name FA's (very likely) since we'll actually HAVE a first round pick next year with no restrictions or protections. So damned if we do, damned if we don't...

Honestly, if we tank next year, we may have bigger problems than Boron. Tanking next year would mean either catastrophic injuries to Russell, Randle or Clarkson OR the three of them don't develop.

R & R & C better be enough to keep us from tanking next season. If they aren't, it means we hitched our ride to the wrong horses.

Maybe and maybe not. Golden State was a very slow burn. OKC took off fairly quickly, but they were still a pretty slow burn too. Even if we don't tank, unless we make the big splash in FA, we're not likely to make the playoffs again. That means our pick will be somewhere 1-14.
