I've been a Laker fan since I was 4, (I'm 24 for reference), if BS is coaching next season, I'm handing in my Laker card.

Even if Mitch somehow Jedi mind tricks KD here and we draft Ben Simmons.

Yeah he's been saying that for weeks.

Part of me hopes that's just some leak coming directly from Mitch so that Byron feels loved by his buddies. That way when they let him go, Jim takes the blame as the bad guy but Mitch can still talk to Byron and be like,"ooooh man I really wanted to give you the shot but it was over my head!" even though Mitch wanted to fire him all along.

But part of me believes this is real and that the Lakers could seriously be considering tanking for another season. And if that's the case I'll watch occasionally like I do now but no I won't be watching religiously and I won't care about them much. I'll support the kids, but there's just no way I want to give any sort of support to this broken front office.

As I've said before, I've been watching the Lakers since Kareem arrived here when I was 10. I didn't become a hardcore fan until Magic came and I started to really understand the game. But that's a pretty long run of almost 40 years. And I can't stomach another year with Scott coaching.

The way Byron has treated the kids has disgusted me this year. They were the reason I was excited for the season and as rough as the first month and a half was I was still totally engaged until he started screwing with them. When he arbitrarily benched Russell and Randle and limited their minutes to 20-25 per game he infuriated me. And he was already coaching terribly before that.

The fact that he has been such a crap coach, coupled with his treatment of the young guns, it's just too much for me as a fan. It would truly be torture to watch him play the stupid games he plays with the youngsters and calling it "development." He needs to be gone as soon as Kobe retires.

More and more I'm excited about the possibility of Walton here as a fresh start for us. Even if we don't land any top tier FA's. I just want a coach who can inspire our young core and utilize their abilities instead of punishing them and not helping them improve their game.

I don't blame any of you guys for feeling the way you do. It's been a rough couple of years.

If Boron is the coach, well let's just hope the FO comes to their senses before then. Those of you who will say f it and turn in their fan card, I don't blame you. If they bring out Boron for another season, that's the front office telling the fan base that we don't give a flying **** about you. It's hard to root for a team when management disrespects the fan base. The fact that Boron is still here, and Mitch's comments a few months back still has me seething.

Personally I don't know which way I'll go if Boron is back.

I have 3 kids, all boys, all of them young. If one of them grew up, started stealing, doing meth, and going to jail all the time, I would be angry,... furious in fact. I would no longer treat them the same because I would have to guard against them messing up my life and the life of their brothers. But I will always love them, and I will never just cut ties with them. They are a part of my life as long as I'm alive, for good or bad.

I'm a Lakers fan for life, and that includes the hard years... just don't expect me to be enthusiastic about it all the time.

So our team now is like Barns' hypothetical meth addicted, felon child?

    I can't disagree with that...

I wish I could "like" this post 2-3 times.

I've always watched the Lakers and I always will. But, it's never been a personal obligation until the last couple of seasons. It was always fun, even during the down years after Magic's retirement because we had Dr. Buss and Jerry West guiding the team and I just knew we would get back to the top. Anymore, I'm not so sure.

I say I won't watch if B0ron is back, but who am I kidding, I'll watch. I'm addicted, I can't help myself. I won't watch every game, but I'll watch, I'll follow. I've tried to stay away this season and still end up watching replays of games, and tuning in from the late 2nd quarter to the end of the Cavs game. I can't not watch Russ and Randle develop, see where Clarkson goes from here, watch our new draft pick if we keep it, and whoever we sign in free agency. We HAVE to spend money, so we are getting new players, I will have to tune in. I beg the Lakers not to keep B0ron, but if they do, I'm screwed same as they are.

Thank you very much TIME. And I agree with you about being never feeling down about watching the Lakers before even during the lean years after Showtime because in the two Jerry's We Trust. They were able to reconstruct a winner and get us back to the top, and I'll always be stoked and thankful for that. Even Mitch has been able to resurrect us from the post-Shaq three-peat era onto another back to back run with Kobe and Pau. But the future remains very unclear right now. We've been suffering these past few years and we need to see some light at the end of this dark tunnel. I'm hoping we can start moving towards that light this offseason. First step is getting rid of Byron, IMO.

This is my worst fear. The fact that Ireland is out there peddling this crap tells me that Byron WILL be back next season. This isn't the first time Ireland has floated similar sentiments out there...sentiments that would keep Byron around. I am already watching less this season than in any season since I was like 10 years old. (I'm 36). If I have to watch this UGLY basketball again next year, I can safely say I will not be watching. I won't start rooting for another team, but I see no reason to continue to watch. If my favorite restaurant started feeding me literal dog s--- (and I mean literal as it would be an apt analogy) every time I went, I wouldn't continue going there.

Agreed. Kyrie coming out of Duke was more offensively polished, IMO. That's not a knock on Russell, but that is the truth. It's a credit to how talented Kyrie is; he's exceptional. Nevertheless, Scott probably didn't have to say that to the media or put it in those words.

Here's another thing to consider, though, and I've watched Russell closely since OSU. He can score, and he's developing nice. Floaters in the lane, post-ups, spot-ups, attacking in the half-court and transition, etc...one area where he's clearly better than Kyrie coming out of college and probably even currently is his 'vision' and passing ability. Don MacClean said Russell 'is the best passer I've ever seen,' and I agree with that. Not having the keys to the car, relegated in this stuck in the mud system that doesn't produce a lot of assists has stifled Russell's game to no end.

To contrast, Kyrie is more polished offensively, but coming into his first year, being that polished, you can put him in situations on the court where he's isolation most of the time, and he'll produce. That's what Scott did, but the results were just as horrible from a win/loss perspective in Cleveland as they are in Los Angeles. Not to mention, Kyrie wasn't developed properly by Scott, IMO. Lebron has even said as much when he first arrived to Cleveland. Scott promotes this heavy brand of selfish, isolation basketball, instead of focusing on team play and developing the right skills with the younger players to playing within a team construct.

So, what we have is an under-utilized Russell, and I would even say the same for Randle and Clarkson. Either way, just my thoughts...

    Agreed on all counts.
Russell, and in extension, all of our young players, need a coach that will teach them.
