I understand what Byron is saying and I not only disagree with it in general, but I disagree with the way he's handled the execution of that idea.

    Here's the full quote/response

Oh, so that can self-destruct him? But what do you think sandbagging him to the media after each games does? Or pulling him without any explanation? Or how about not giving him any instruction on what to do differently? Or teaching him another way to approach that particular play next time? Or telling him why you're not starting him? Or when he might start again? All those do wonders for a player's psyche, I'm sure.

"Teach"?...you're not qualified to make a claim that you teach anyone a damn thing other than how to stand there and look like a lame duck coach who's only goal is to collect top 5 picks for your team. The next time you teach any of the players anything constructive will be the first time since Mitch handed you a contract and a pen.

"Protect"?...Only thing you're trying to protect is your own job and you're even failing at that. That and possibly Kobe's farewell tour but his body isn't cooperating fully with that season long parade. You're doing nothing to protect these kids from anything. Quite the contrary, actually. I just hope our next coach doesn't have to do too much damage control to get these kids back on the right track and undo all the bad habits Scott has impressed upon them.

    "Develop"?...
    SERIOUSLY! Who are you kidding?

Competitive? Okay. Fine. I can give him that, but what about his actual ability to coach? Kobe knows it. We know it. He can't coach.

Looks like we know our coaching staff for next year. Luke Walton will be our head coach with McHale, Blatt, and Hornacek as his assistants. Then, we will bring in Durant + Whiteside. We will sign Westbrook after that.

I can imagine Mike Malone and Mudiay laughing at that sorry excuse. Mudiay was a turnover machine first half of the season. I don't see him self-destructing. In fact, since returning from injury, he's improved a lot.

Any more excuses??? I think the guy's running out of them.

Frankly, I don't care if Kobe endorses Byron. He has one foot out the door himself, headed for Retirementville. Not meant disrespectfully (well actually yes in Byron's case), but it's time for a changing of the guard...top to bottom. Those guys had their time and it's over.

I'm left speechless by the stuff B0ron and poor Russ have said the last 2 pages. Speechless, there are no more words for this coach.

Just like the hot female Latin pilot in Avatar when she joined the good green guys and returned fire on Quaritch, "I've got a (twitter account) too b****!

    Or something like that :p

This is good that it's coming to this. People who are paid to be smart and interesting to read in the sports world (apart from the people here that do it for free) are becoming more acutely aware of the level of absurd the Lakers coaching situation is becoming. Ticket holders and Sports TV programming acutely aware too. Cue Glenn Frey, RIP, with "The Heat Is On".

This coming ridicule (media loves a villain) is nothing but negative for the FO. Wait until Boron fires back nationally with some of this horse s*** logic he's always feeding to the local beat writers.

When you are one of the worst coaches in NBA history record wise, no one should listen to anything he has to say.

FFS. If a coach is going through this absurd of a streak of futility, and in his back pocket he has an even WORSE situation to draw from, why the f---was he ever hired in the first place? I am utterly dumbfounded. "10 game losing streak? Pft. Let me tell you about my 26 game streak. That will give you comfort and make you feel better?"

A decade ago, I didn't think there was a way I would ever have even a slightly perturbed view of this man.

But now...I hate him. I haaaaaate him. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, haaaaaate him.

I wish I didn't like this comment and find it funny. But these are the sad times that you have to just laugh and try to get through it.

Byron Scott is an assistant coach at best. He might even be very good at running conditioning drills and improving the grittitude of players - as the bad cop. Where there's a bad copy, however, there has to be a good cop. We're missing that.

This is Byron's last gig though. He will eventually get fired because he could be handed Durant and Westbrook in 2017 and he would STILL mess it up. He's that bad. Once he gets fired from this job, no one will ever hire him again. Cleveland hired Mike Brown after we canned him which no one thought was possible. But Byron being hired by us was the equivalent of Brown's Cleveland hire. We hired Byron after he set NBA records of ineptitude. He won't get another shot. And he will be the losingest (sp?) coach in NBA history when this season is over. We'd have to go on a tear (relative to our standards this season) in order for him to avoid it.
