Yep. This was supposed to prop up the Spurs mentally, but it completely backfired. They weren't close to ready.
That was just insane last night. Wow. Warriors Smash! It won't come that easy against the Spurs in the playoffs. But that was some kind of show. 30 point beat down. I haven't seen a team just destroy everyone else the way the Warriors are doing since the Showtime Lakers at their most dominant in 1987. Seriously.
That's just remarkable. Averaging 30 points per game and he's sat for the final quarter in 1/3 of the team's games this season. That's just unbelievable. What's the opposite of stat padding? He's handicapping himself and is still one of the most prolific scorers we've ever seen.
It's pretty crazy. Any other year, the Spurs would be the favorites, but the Warriors are just that good. They need to go 31-6 for the rest of the season to tie the 72-10 record. 70 wins seems pretty much guaranteed at this point since they need to go "only" 29-8 to reach that.
Edit: Fixed. I looked at PER game for Westbrook and Kobe by accident. >< Lol. Here are the top 5 per 36 that I found since 05-06: Code: Curry (15-16): 32.2 Kobe (05-06): 31.1 Durant (13-14): 29.9 Westbrook (14-15): 29.5 Wade (08-09): 28.2 Unless I missed somebody, LeBron, Melo, and even Iverson have never averaged more than the above per 36 in their careers. Edit: Kobe leads if you look at points per possession though, and Melo knocks out Westbrook from the top 5. Here are the stats per 100 possessions: Code: Kobe (05-06): 45.6 Curry (15-16): 43.2 Durant (13-14): 41.8 Wade (08-09): 41.8 Carmelo (12-13): 41.4
Thanks, dude! Put's things into perspective. MJ's PP36 and PPP in his best scoring season pretty please!
Jordan's top 3 per 36: 86-87: 33.4 87-88: 31.2 89-90: 31.0 Jordan's top 3 per 100 possessions: 86-87: 46.4 87-88: 43.6 92-93: 43.0 I took out his 85-86 season since he only played 18 games. Edit: Top 10 all-time per 36 and per 100 possessions. For possessions, I believe data isn't available before the 1973-74 season. Top 10 all time per 36 Code: Wilt Chamberlain 61-62 37.4 Wilt Chamberlain 62-63 33.9 Michael Jordan 86-87 33.4 Stephen Curry 15-16 32.2 Michael Jordan 87-88 31.2 Kobe Bryant 05-06 31.1 Michael Jordan 89-90 31.0 Michael Jordan 90-91 30.6 Kevin Durant 13-14 29.9 Michael Jordan 92-93 29.8 If Curry keeps this up, he will knock out McGrady from the top 10. He'll also be in very elite company. Warriors do play at a very fast pace though so if you do per possession, he drops a bit, but is still one of the best of all-time. Top 10 all time per 100 team possessions Code: Michael Jordan 86-87 46.4 Kobe Bryant 05-06 45.6 Michael Jordan 87-88 43.6 Stephen Curry 15-16 43.2 Michael Jordan 92-93 43.0 Michael Jordan 90-91 42.7 Michael Jordan 89-90 42.7 Michael Jordan 95-96 42.5 Tracy McGrady 02-03 42.0 Kevin Durant 13-14 41.8
As long as they stay healthy, yeah 70 plus wins looks like it very well may be a thing for GS. They are just that much better than everyone else.
Thanks for all that data. If steph keeps this up it does seem to show that he is on par with Kobe and MJ as the game's most prolific scorers ever.
...the Dubs are a likeable championship team that I have not witnessed in a long time. All others before them have bred contempt and hate. The Spurs were efficiently boring with vanilla personalities save Pop but Golden State is just fun to watch.
Spurs were not ready for the Warriors defensive intensity ... Parker and Ginobili are too old against to compete against the Dubs athletes and Draymond took LMA 's manhood ( he's always been soft btw) . Only thing opponents can hope for this season (and imo the next one) are injuries If not come back at the start of the 17-18 season
Yeah sorry about that. I think the https in the giphy site was causing some lag with the image embedding. When I replaced it with http it embedded fine. It seems to have retroactively embedded the other images even though they weren't present when I submitted the post.
Klay Thompson with a crazy stat line tonight against the Mavs: 45 pts on 14-20 shooting. 10/10 on free throws 7/12 on threes
