I knew it was coming, but midseason? Wow. Also damn, Lue is a really solid coach and was a candidate for our job. Kudos to Cleveland for making he right call even if they had to do it this way.
So they are the 3rd best team in the NBA and they can fire their coach, but we are maybe the worst team in the league now and we can't fire ours? F*** that.
first thing I thought was.....and Byron Scott still has a job. This is what good NBA franchises do...they don't waste time and make the tough decisions, even if it is mid-season. I think the Cavs are reaady for another annoying second half of the season comeback where they win 30 of 33 games or something ridiculous.
LeBron the Gm! In all seriousness this move won't accomplish much. They still don't have the horses to compete with the Spurs or Dubs.
Ty Lue signed already? Well that was quick! Meanwhile... the siblings are twiddling their thumbs and watching Ben Simmons highlights...
Yes, I know, the Cavs suck. But they're making bold decisions and they're doing it quick. They are going to be in the NBA Finals every year for the foreseeable future and yet they went and CANNED their coach without thinking twice. THAT is what your leadership needs to do. Don't wait until the damage is too severe that your players can't recover from it (development of randle russell clarkson?)....go and do what needs to be done to extract the poison out. Props to the Cavs. I hate their owner and their franchise but this was the right move....and they moved quickly to sign Lue to a multi-year deal so there's no uncertainty on who the coach is going to be
GM Lebron finally able to fire Blatt. They are first in the East and third in the entire NBA but they can still fire their head coach and promote their assistant coach to head coach while we are sitting here twiddling our thumbs with the second to last record and worst in the West and a cast of nobodies as a coaching staff.
I agree it was the right move. They had to fire Blatt. Gilbert is terrified LeBron will abandon him again. But this has nothing to do with being a good NBA franchise. By all reports, Gilbert liked Blatt and wanted to keep him.
Yep. Agreed with the move, but Lebron is the de facto GM, and I don't think that's a good thing for an NBA franchise. If the Cavs fail to win the championship, they'll find another scapegoat; more than likely that will scapegoat will be K. Love and he'll get shopped this summer.
