Well, the shot isn't going to be fixed overnight obviously; the shot will have to be reworked over the summer. The positive thing to me (concerning the shot) is the three-ball looks smoother than his mid-range shot. There's a difference between closing out on Randle at 20 feet as opposed to close out all the way to the 3-point line. Big, big difference. If he can get to the league average which is 34% or around that mark, he's golden. Also, please besides the right hand and his shot, get into this man's ear about becoming a better screener in the pick in roll game. That's something will improve his game right now. A man of his frame and physique gets no contact on way more than half of the screens he sets.

Right. I thought that was Randle. I'll edit. My fault. Randle is raw. I think we all know that. I do some some progress, though. You have to think at this point last year he was rehabilitating after a broken leg suffered in his first year. He's only missed 1 game this season, right? I still see very good potential. By the way, he's a top 2-3 pick if they had to redo that draft in 2014. That's after missing his whole rookie year with an injury.

right hand. before all else, imo. and I'm not sure about the contact thing. it may be that he'll always need to do that to finish over length. to me, the fact that his opponent knows he's ALWAYS coming back to that left hand is what kills him in the paint.
I'm not so sure he should stop initiating contact. Especially if he develops a jumpshot on the perimeter. He also needs to work on setting screens and help defense.
He is painful to watch right now. Painful! If he doesn't dunk he can't finish, and he keeps getting blocked to add to that. Plus he still can't shoot, he doesn't play defense, he doesn't set screens, I'm close to MY limit on this. Basically all he does is rebound and make a couple nice passes right now, he has got to start trying a new approach, because what he's doing now isn't working.
New approach like what? The shots Julius is getting are the shots he's gonna get in this style of offense. He's gonna struggle to finish when he can't use his right hand effectively. That's not gonna change during the course of the season. It's gonna have to happen in the offseason. Yes he's struggling defensively like every other player because there is no communication because our coach doesn't communicate with these young guys.
I don't know, maybe play off screens and within the system no matter how crappy, instead of floating around the perimeter and setting fake screens only to go 1 on 1 for ugly shots. The defense, he gets no more excuses for that, his awareness on D is garbage as is his effort (aside from rebounding), and at some point I turn away from coaching and it's on him to want to play better D.
Randle seems like he lost his touch or something because he can't finish anything in the paint. He rarely ever looks to pass the ball out and ends up throwing up an awkward looking shot. The offense may not be tailored to his skills but he needs to play smarter.
