The play he put Curry on ice skates was amazing. Looks like he got fouled on the possession when we were up 1 with like 40 seconds to go. He and Russ hopefully will be what Westbrook and Harden should have looked alike if they stayed together.
Hit a big 3 in crunch time. Wish he fouled Westbrook quicker/harder so we didn't lose those 4-5 seconds...like send him into the first row.

The list of young players who are anywhere near as effective as JC is small. Only 15 players in the NBA this season are 23 or younger, are averaging 10-2-2. Tell me how many of them are seen as max players: Tobias Harris $17M next season Evan Fournier Otto Porter Giannis Antetokounmpo Rodney Hood Victor Oladipo $6.5M next season (then FA) Trey Burke Elfrid Payton (okay; that's four Magic!) JC Dennis Schroder Kyrie Bradley Beal Zach LaVine Dangeruss Mudiay Just bumping it to 12-2.5-2.5 we're down to 8: Fournier, Giannis, Hood, Oladipo, JC, Kyrie, Beal, and Lavine. Kyrie is max, Giannis is probably max, Beal will probably get max. We're talking serious money on these guys.
Clarkson is going to make a bunch of money coming up, whatever the amount is. The great news is that he's putting up numbers on a bad team. That means other teams might not be rushing over to make a huge offer to him. Hopefully we have a chance to do our thing before he signs an offer sheet. If he signs an offer sheet right away it'll severely limit our ability to stack up this team. It's not like we don't have a history of taking care of the guys we want to keep so he and his agent should be very confident that the Lakers are going to pay this young man.
I don't get the "player putting up numbers on a bad team" argument in Clarkson's case. He's shooting 44% which is pretty good and and he's a decent 33.9% from 3. He's putting up numbers on a bad team but he's doing it efficiently.I think in this case it shows that if he's featured in an offense he can put up numbers. And if anyone's watching our games they know Clarkson's a guy who will get you a bucket. I think the Lakers will let him know they intend to match and construct a better roster, so hopefully Clarkson will work with us. Though he might need to sign an offer from another team quickly so that team doesn't go in a different direction.
It's a narrative used by teams to keep from having to play players who are good on bad teams. It's typically not that hard to see which guys are good on a bad team and which guys are just good. Case in point: Isiah Canaan.
i think clarkson could produce for a winning team, too. though ideally he'd be the bench anchor, i think. my biggest concern going forward is that both he and randle end up best suited to that role.

Was watching the highlights, because I honestly don't want to watch the games at this point. I noticed that, on one of Clarkson's coast to coast drives, both his arms were held, as well as his torso, and there was no call. Shot made. No complaining. Kid is the anti-harden.
Let's be thankful for this, and hope it changes after we re-sign him. If he was already drawing fouls like Harden, he'd be a lock to force us to offer up the max.
Clarkson has had some nice highlights recently, but his defense is still abysmal. It is so hard to gauge the actual value of some of our players like Randle and Clarkson with Byron as coach. He runs no system on either end of the floor. Is Clarkson a terrible defender? Is the system making him look bad? Maybe a bit of both? Clarkson is going to get paid big this offseason by someone. Before I was 100% behind giving him the "max" contract for a player of his draft status and age. But we are not getting better throughout this season. We got beat by 18 (a blowout) by a team that's 6 games under .500. How much of that is Byron? At what point do we have to consider that JC is playing moderately well, but wouldn't be getting much playing time on a team that was even 4th or 5th in the Wesern Conference? Do we want to be locked into players like JC at sg? Like I said. I like him, but sg is a vital position in this new NBA. Is he good enough to hitch our wagon to? Is he a starting sg on a contender?
