What I find refreshing about Clarkson is he does work with some anonymity. The talk has been about Russell and his draft status. Randle and his expected impact. Nowadays even the emergence of Nance. Do we hear a peep out of him about being unappreciated? Does he stew on the bench about touches? No on both counts which is big character wise. Hell, Clarkson's on record about making sure the squad does not lose themselves as individuals and as a collective unit even with all the hoopla about 24's last ride and of course, our own incompetent coaching.
Clarkson is my current favorite Laker. He just goes about his business. He isn't showy or flashy, but there is a quiet fury about him. There's an animal just beneath the surface that drives him, but doesn't overtake him.

w My guess is the reason it is so low is that a 2nd rounder can only be locked in for two seasons. If they could immediately make a "max" salary after year two, they would conceivably get more than the first overall pick in years 3 and 4 since they are locked in for 4 years. It'd be better for players to go in the second round than go first overall if they were a transcendent talent.
It'll be the same as Parsons was a couple years ago. He gets more annually if he leaves LA, but if he stays it can be structured in such a way where we pay only 5-6 million the first two years and then a huge jump in salary the next two. I don't know the actual numbers, but that's what we're looking at.
I love Clarkson, he's got to stay. Same with Russ. Randle, I'm not sure why but I'm not as attached to him.
You know I was comparing some stats between Wiggins and Clarkson, and Clarkson had the upper hand in just about every category, even rebounding. Heck the only reason Wiggins is even in the conversation is because of his insanely high FTr. It's about 3x as high as Clarkson, despite their shot charts looking pretty similar, except Clarkson makes more shots. Methinks Wiggins is gonna be another of the harden mold.
I think it's because we'd be signing Clarkson with his Early Bird Rights (two years with us). Maximum salary is 175% of his previous salary or league average, whichever is higher. Clarkson can be signed for a minimum of two years at that price, with a 7.5% raise in season two. So, I take it he'd be at: Year 1: MLE (~5.6M) Year 2: MLE+7.5% (~6M) Year 3: MAX (~17M?) Year 4: MAX (~19M?) Parsons was an interesting case. He played with Houston for three years, giving them Full Bird Rights. They should've been able to sign him for up to max. His deal wasn't about Early vs. Full Bird - it was about the huge difference between what max was and what it would be. Wonder what Clarkson looks like in a real offensive system. You know one with proper set plays, ball movement, and spacing. If he already puts up 15-20 ppg with ease in this POS, the future is bright for #6.
