The news of the Suns FO firing Hornacek's assistants & putting him on the hot seat after losing to the Sixers infuriates me. We lost to the Sixers too earlier but we're letting this lump of coal linger around? You f'n kidding me???

edit: and how did their FO come to that conclusion? they met with their starting five to figure out where the problem is. I doubt out FO will be that proactive

The FO's methods and philosophies are antiquated, much like Byron's. Hell, it's probably one of the reasons they hired him. I bet it would probably never enter their heads to have separate eyes and ears in the locker room or to just straight up directly ask the players what they feel is wrong with the team and how things could be improved. I guess it doesn't matter though if you believe the FO is intentionally tanking the season, an idea I find deplorable.

Still, the FO just isn't very progressive or forward thinking, and I fear their organizational culture is more 1980s than 2010s. We saw how out of touch they were during the FO pitch to Lamarcus Aldridge. They're relics of an old NBA, and those who don't evolve will die out.

Except that because they own a cash cow of a franchise, the death could be VERY slow and VERY painful for us Laker fans.

Honestly, it feels more and more like we're becoming the Clippers of the 1990s/early 2000s

Probably the order you have it, Brown, Antoni, Scott, but does it even matter? They were all so horrible that it makes me want to :Kobepuking:

Yeah it makes me wanna vomit when I hear some say we never should've fired D'Antoni.

Screw D'Antoni. He ruined the career of one of the greatest players of all time. Should've been fired on the spot.

1.Antoni - Good as an assistant and an offense coach. Played guys out of position and was far too in favor of small ball though. Thought defense was letting teams score so we could get the ball back and score a 3. 3>2 after all.

2.Brown - Not good at defense or offense, but not a complete joke who at least put decent assistants around him. His coaching was all LeBron or all Kobe all the time, but we did make the playoffs under him.

3.Scott - THE worst NBA coach I have ever seen. Not good on offense, not good on defense, not good at motivation or building up and encouraging young players, not good at anything. Stubborn and will not change his ways, will never take any blame himself and always puts it on the players, coaching methods are outdated, and surrounds himself with "assistant coaches" he picked up off the street.

Here's the thing with that and it annoys me to no end, MDA did not ruin the career of Kobe, he was just the last of many to ride Kobe past the normal human limit. Should MDA have pulled Kobe the night he tore his Achilles? Without a doubt, but as we have seen since then his career has caught up with him whether it be the fractured knee, the rotator cuff, stiff back, etc. MDA could have stopped Kobe from getting hurt that night, but the minutes, the relentless style of play, the play through anything, the need to stay at the top of the mountain has caught up with him.

Who's fault is the rotator cuff? The fractured knee? The stiff back, sore knees? It's called Father Time and if you are looking for someone to blame, blame everyone in the organization (Vitti, MDA, Brown, Phil, Byron, Mitch, Buss family, assistant coaches) that didn't step in and say no when Kobe was doing too much when he didn't have enough in the tank to compensate. And this goes for all throughout his career as you very rarely see players today play to the point of exhaustion like we've seen many times with Kobe.

Kobe's career was the cause of all these injuries, MDA was just the straw that broke the camel's back and his post-achilles injury history suggests that.

As far as best to worst....

1.) MDA - Wrong coach, wrong team. Completely wrong coach for the last good team we had, but given his "success" with the terrible rosters after compared to others and he would be in a better position with this team without a doubt in my mind.

2.) Brown - He sucks but he had a plan. Slow the game down, hope the opposing offense has an off night and capitalize on fewer offensive possessions with your best players. Kind of doesn't work when there is no defensive philosophy to back that up and when your best offensive guys don't want to maximize their potential (Dwight), not used right (Pau) or depended on too much (Kobe).

3.) Scott - By far the worst coach. No offensive or defensive philosophy. 1 and 2 at least had a plan and stuck to it, but are flawed because they are on the extreme end of the spectrum. Scott isn't on the spectrum because he hasn't contributed anything to it.

Compared to the other 2, the only consistent thing about Scott is his lineups which he sticks to even after seeing the ones that immediately fail. I'd rank Pringles at the top and you can toss a coin for Brown or BS.

What is disturbing is the lack of accountability going on with BS right now in terms of our FO as compared to our handling of Brown and D'Antonio. D'Antonio may have "quit" but it was an agreed upon arrangement. Could you imagine this with Doctor Buss?

Philly just beat the Suns and their FO fired 2 assistant coaches and Jeff Hornacek's job is in jeopardy as well. We lost to Philly and the FO uses the Kobe Road Show with all its tributes as a way to say "hey, look over here". Basically a distraction to what's really going on. It's all they talk about with the LA media. The FO has to have embraced the tank for this season at this point. Possible that they have contacted other coaching options (Brooks, Thibs) and received no interest back...who knows, but it's clear they feel stuck with BS for the season.

I know a lot of PE teachers that would not be very happy with that comment.

Hey Byron, did you not see that Kobe already had his shoulder wrapped in ice?
