Hibbert and sacre can't catch or finish.
Randle can't shoot and waits 3 Mississippi then isos.
Kobe yells for the ball at the 3pt line to iso.

That's great. I love "nonsensical weak side action." Might be my next album title.

Worse, the first pass is often to Kobe.

16 points and 7 boards in just 28 minutes. Thought D'Angelo also played some very good and tough defense on Chris Paul in the second half. Him getting yanked after his great start was ridiculous. Let the kid play. He was rolling.

How the hell is he not playing 30+ minutes a game. This is unbelievable.

Russell was awesome in this game. He probably would have had an even better performance had he not been forced to sit cold on the bench for 30 minutes after his hot start. That's gotta disrupt your rhythm as a player.

I too think he has defensive potential too he just needs to move his feet better laterally.

I am tired of this "experiment." The starting unit continues to play like garbage game after game. Bring back Randle and Russell to play with Clarkson Hibbert and Kobe. Those are your best five players Boron.

I recall hearing Bill and Stu say "why isn't he playing more" multiple times during the game

Me, too. Billy Mac has been harping on that quite a bit and I agree all the way.

I'm sick of Byron picking on D'Angelo. This kid continues to produce. He's had an excellent three week stretch with like one bad game in there. Give him some f***ing credit douchebag. Is that too much to ask? Why Byron do you constantly feel the need to try and tear and bully this kid in the media? Everyone with two eyes know you're doing him a huge disservice and he's still out there ballin. GTFO Byron. Front office should fire themselves for allowing this garbage to continue.

Agreed. The kid is no punk. Nor is Randle. Screw Boron. He's acting like a complete knucklehead. And I agree with you about the FO. They say to blame them as well as Boron and now I will. The fact that they didn't call him out for benching the kids made me sick. Screw 'em all I say. Tell Boron to play the kids or else. This is just becoming such a gross display. Boron not coaching at all, making horrible decisions, creating garbage lineups that don't play well . . . the FO saying Boron can do whatever he wants and they won't interfere or tell him how to do his job (even when he's failing miserably). UGH!!!!!

Also I know this could easily got unnoticed, but I love the fact that two of D'Angelo's best games this season came on the national stage. Game I was at a few weeks at the Spurs and tonight. Kid isn't bothered by the bright lights at all. He single handily essentially kept us in that Spurs game until the fourth quarter until Byron went full r***** again and of course tonight he was the catalyst on both ends and pretty much shut down CP3 on the court.

People are starting to take notice of this kid. He is gonna be a big time star in this league. I've thought that since the outset. He just has a certain swagger and confidence about him that every great player needs. Just look at how he's clearly standing up to Byron. He's not gonna allow himself to be brought down by his bush league tactics. He went right at the best point guard of this generation and took on the challenge. That's the type of stuff we saw from a young Kobe. He isn't backing down and I LOVE it.

The scary thing is we obviously don't have a real system or coach in place and we do I think D'Angelo will really take off. Get some shooters in the offseason and it becomes much harder to stop and trap him in screen and rolls. Get some bigs who can finish and all of a sudden his assist numbers will sky rocket. Get an athletic wing like Barnes or Batum who can hit transition three's as well as run on a fast break. D'Angelo in that comeback basically said screw this Princeton crap I'm running the show. He's not afraid of intimidated by the moment. He wants the ball in his hands. He's directing guys and getting and making sure they're in the right positions. Being a true floor general. Not getting Chris Paul will always sting, but drafting this kid definitely does soften the blow.

That's what matters. Kobe has been great for him. They are close. Often communicating and Kobe teaching offering advice during games. This is extremely valuable.

Agreed. I'm glad Kobe has been willing to do this. Definitely will help Russell in the long run

    Great game by D'angelo tonight.

Regarding D'Angelo/Byron, I remember reading in one of Phil's books, he talks about how with certain players there was a good cop/bad cop situation. I feel like with D'angelo Byron's the bad cop and Kobe's the good cop.

Byron's playing mind games with D'Angelo. Not a good thing but at least Kobe's there to encourage him. Russell's just going to have to ride it out until we get a new coach unfortunately. But when we do D'Angelo will excel.

Nonetheless I think Russell will be in a starting spot again in a few months.

A few months more of Russell not starting ..... the thought of that enrages me. I hate this pig headed fool of a coach. :PauExplode:
