Thank you D'Angelo. I'm glad our young players aren't afraid to call him out on his incompatence.

Bright side is another 2-3 games like this and Mitch will have no choice but to fire him.

Youngins with the truth, love it. I wonder, what does Kobe realy think about all this. Can his "love" for Byron blind him a little, or does he know, that his buddy sucks beyond description.

They should just fire Byron and put an iPad on his chair. Then just run the team by polling the fans in real time. Using your computer or mobile device, vote for timeouts, vote for substitutions, vote for plays from a generic playbook. It'll be like that whole Twitch plays Pokemon thing...I really don't think it could be any worse.

Best idea I've heard for the Lakers in ages! Seriously. The rotations would improve immediately.

Is anyone really surprised that Byron would try to cover his butt with the "in awe of OKC" hogwash? What was freaking fantabulous was that BOTH Julius and DAR denied that and said it wasn't the case. I believe them too, very respectful of Durant/Westbrook abilities of course but those 2 are hungry and eager to learn by playing the best.

Lol, this is hilarious to think about but its sad that it would likely be better than Byron coaching.

Anyone sense a pattern here? A guy who blames it all on his players and has no accountability himself.

This guy is the biggest turd of a coach I've ever seen. Nothing but recycle blame and demeaning statements about his players no matter where he is losing because of his crap coaching and lineups and methods, attitude with young players, and takes no responsibility in any of it. I thought all you guys were nuts that hated the idea of him coming to coach the Lakers ....that much. Give me therealdeal's "whole family of crows" to eat. Blech!!!!

15 fully loaded quotes from Byron Scott’s Cleveland Cavaliers coaching tenure
    by[IMG]JACOB ROSEN inMULTIMEDIA

    [IMG]Joshua Gunter/The Plain Dealer

On Monday night, I pointed out in a Storify collection how Byron Scott’s controversially negative comments as Los Angeles Lakers head coach resembled those of his days with the Cleveland Cavaliers. One Twitter user even made a Byron Scott quote Bingo chart. After further digging through the archives, here are 15 examples of fully loaded quotes from Scott’s three-year tenure in Cleveland. That was certainly an interesting time for Cavs basketball.

#1: Oct. 29, 2010, after a tiring practice following a 95-87 season-opening victory over the Boston C Bags, via The Morning Journal:

“Hard work is a habit just like losing, just like laziness. I want us to get into the habit of every day we’re going to work.”

    #2: Dec. 4, 2010, after a haunting 129-95 loss at Minnesota, via Cleveland.com:

“We played like the word that starts with an s and ends with a t. It’s only four letters. That’s the bottom line. On both ends of the floor, that’s how we played.”

#3: Dec. 12, 2010, on his decision to bench 22-year-old J.J. Hickson in favor of veteran Antawn Jamison, via Cleveland.com:

“Force me to play you by working hard in practice. Work on the things that we are telling you. Your time will come.”

#4: Dec. 28, 2010, after a Cavs practice where he was remarking on the cuddled nature of today’s athletes, via WaitingForNextYear.com:

“I’m sure I’m not the only coach that has to tell his guys that they have to go out and play hard every single night, ‘We have to compete tonight’ and things like that. I talk to other coaches and it’s almost universal, which is kind of weird. To me, that should be a part of your job, to compete and play hard every single night.”

#5: Jan. 4, 2011, at the mid-way point of his first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, via WaitingForNextYear.com:

“We still have guys who don’t understand what we’re doing offensively. Like I told them today, there’s no reason why that should be because most of these guys have been here all year long, so they should understand what we’re doing at all times.”

#6: Jan. 18, 2011, announcing defensive scheme changes before a game against the Phoenix Suns, via Cleveland.com:

“If you make a mistake by not getting up and doing what you’re supposed to do, next dead ball, come to the bench. Cause you’re coming out. If someone messes up, it’s very simple to figure out who it is and bring him to the sideline for a little while.”

#7: March 16, 2011, as an outlook for the 12-53 Cavaliers for the final 17 games of the season, via Cleveland.com:

“It’s mind-boggling to me because I don’t know where they are mentally. … It’s so frustrating for me. I really don’t care about the record. I care about competing. I care about coming out every single night, going against an opponent that has a different colored jersey on that’s trying to kick your butt. And not to respond to that is something that is shocking and scary to me.

“For me, it tells a lot about you as a basketball player and a lot about your character. It tells me if you’re a quitter or a loser. That’s how I look at it.”

#8: March 21, 2011, after another Cavs loss, this time by a final score of 97-86 to the Orlando Magic, via Cleveland.com:

“The thing these guys really understand is minutes. That’s the biggest thing right now. If you’re not playing as hard as I think you can play, just come over and take a seat.”

#9: Jan. 4, 2012, after Samardo Samuels lost his Jamaican passport before a trip to play the Toronto Raptors, via Cleveland.com:

“I’m going to chalk it up to youth and inexperience. Hopefully he learned his lesson and it never happens again.”

#10: Feb. 17, 2012, following a 111-87 loss to the Miami Heat at home, via Cleveland.com:

“I said at halftime it boggles my mind that you’re scared of another man.”

“It was very simple: It looked like we were scared to death. They came out with great energy and great effort and we didn’t match it whatsoever. It just seemed like the lights were too bright for a lot of guys.” (sound familiar?)

#11: April 3, 2012, after a 125-90 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, via NBA.com:

“The first thing is we have to compete. It is that simple. If we don’t do that, we have no chance. You have to play flawless basketball. We’re not giving ourselves an opportunity to be in a game and win a game because we’re not competing at a high level. In the New York game, I thought we competed, but we can’t compete one night and then the next night, not compete at all and then come back the next night and compete. That inconsistency is not going to cut it either.”

#12: Oct. 10, 2012, following a 97-80 preseason loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, via Cleveland.com:

“We took a step back as a team because of the way we played. We played selfish basketball, didn’t move the ball. I thought [the Bucks] played hard and shared the ball. That’s the way we have to play.”

“We’ve got plenty of time to work on things. We’ve got to get better at the things that we’re doing. There’s no need to put in other stuff when you’re not doing the things you’re doing right now well. We’ve just got to continue to harp on the things we’re doing on the offensive end, as well as the defensive end, and do it with much more effort for longer periods of time.”

#13: Dec. 21, 2012, after a 99-89 loss to the Indiana Pacers where the Cavs fell to 5-23, via The Morning Journal:

“The third quarter was an illustration of what not to do. I don’t know what the remedy is of getting everyone engaged.”

#14: Feb. 9, 2013, after the Cavs had won three straight and six of the last seven games, via The Morning Journal:

“Like I’ve always said about the light at the end of the tunnel, ‘It’s way down there.’ But it’s getting a little closer. I can see it without squinting.”

#15: March 22, 2013, after a 116-78 defeat against the Houston Rockets, the worst of the season, via Cleveland.com:

“It was the first game in a long time I saw us being very disconnected on both ends of the floor. Even though the first quarter was close, it started in the first quarter. We just made some shots in the first quarter. But from that point on, I just thought we were disconnected. Guys were trying to get theirs on the offensive end. Defensively we were disconnected. Guys weren’t communicating. We were just individuals out there. We weren’t a team.”
