Kobe played the entire first quarter. Idiot rotations. None of them make sense ever.

Byron gets all the credit for losses, and NONE of the credit for wins. They have a few wins IN SPITE of Byron, not because of him.

Watching Byron attempt to coach is kind of like this:

Sacre should never play period. Nance shouldn't be starting. He's at best a 10-15 minute player. Randle was the best player on the floor tonight and to play him 23 minutes is just ridiculous. Kid had 18 and 10. Let him f***ing play man. Russell only played 12 minutes through three quarters. Was clearly out of rhythm. This guy is just a f***ing clown personified. Get him out of here.

His whole thing was Randle wasn't playing with energy and he was one of the only guys out there playing with great energy all night. Great logic Byron you moron. So much for playing these young kids. All three of them need to play and play together. They need that experience. It's crucial.

Also Tarik Black ain't even active today really? I mean the dude was one of three bright spots last season other than Clarkson and Ed Davis who we didn't bother to re-sign. Would've been a great fit with D'Angelo. Front office needs to stop letting guys like Davis as well as Bazemore. Both would be really good fits with this young core.

Black is really a perfect backup center. Great motor, good finisher, athletic, rebounds, runs the court, and great screener. How in God's name can you play a scrub in Sacre ahead of him? This team could be two deep at four of five positions if he actually played Black as well as Bass in his proper role.

What the hell are we running on offense? What happened to the crisp sets with the triangle mixed in? Multiple actions on a possession. Tonight it was back to that Princeton garbage. Walk the ball up and dribble, dribble, dribble. Just stop please. Push the f***ing ball. The energy was flagrantly absent and STILL he benches Randle. We're too easy to guard with Nance and Hibbert playing together. Either start Randle or even Bass because he is a terrific mid range shooter.

^^^ Yeah the paper today or on line .... somewhere "mensa" Scott was being discussed that last game or so he has been calling most of the plays for Russell, rather than earlier him calling more on his own for a period of time.

Oh thank god the front office gets it now. They will have Byron handle most of the free agent meetings so he can discuss Xs and Os with them. All bases are now covered .... analytics, Xs and Os and pump them up with the "man up" vibe Byron puts out as a coach. What's scary is he seems to think he will be in the next meetings this summer.

Byron Scott: 75% of future free agent meetings will focus on basketball

By Dan FeldmanDec 18, 2015, 5:15 PM EST
Kobe Bryant‘s contributions notwithstanding, the Lakers’ free-agent meeting with LaMarcus Aldridge last summer went poorly. They reportedly focused too much on business, not enough on basketball, for Aldridge’s liking. The Lakers got a second meeting with Aldridge, but it was probably too late by then.

So, the Lakers have a plan to get it right initially next time, according coach Byron Scott.

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News:

“Seventy five percent or more of it will be about the basketball part,” Scott said

“The other part will be about the business part of it as well. We found out from a great player that he was more interested in the basketball on the court stuff than anything else.”

It’s cute that Scott thinks he’ll be invited to future free-agent meetings.

I doubt the Lakers will retain him for another season after Kobe Bryant’s retirement. Scott will probably last the rest of Kobe’s tenure, but given Scott’s poor handling of young players and inability to win, that’s probably it.

Scott likely has knowledge of the Lakers’ free-agent plans, though. I’m just not convinced they’re wise.

Every max-salary player who changed teams through free agency last summer chose a small market. That has caused many to claim the nature of free agency has changed, that winning has become the only priority and city size is no longer a concern.

But that was just two players, Aldridge and Greg Monroe (Bucks) – hardly a telling sample.

Potential max players in next year’s free-agent class – including Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Andre Drummond, Al Horford, Bradley Beal, Dwight Howard, Mike Conley and Hassan Whiteside – could have completely different priorities. These are all individuals with their own outlooks. Just because Aldridge was focused more on basketball aspects means little to nothing about future free agents.

More importantly, how are the 4-22 Lakers going to sell basketball to free agents?

D'Angelo Russell, Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson are a nice start, but this is still a crummy team. A lost first-round pick sometime in the next three years doesn’t help, either.

The Lakers just can’t credibly talk up their on-court plans, not right now. So many other teams can sell better situations to players who prioritize winning.

But the Lakers can sell Los Angeles, Hollywood. The stature of being a Laker is what separates them from other teams. The marketing possibilities are better there.

The Lakers didn’t approach Aldridge wisely, though I don’t think they would’ve convinced him to sign anyway. But if they overreact to that isolated error, it could cost them even more in free agency.

Jackson's contributions at Golden State are under appreciated. Inheriting one of the six worst defensive teams in the NBA, Jackson had them top 6 when he left. They were already a strong playoff team when he left, too. He could do wonders for a rebuilding team.

I'd be fine with Marc if we hire the right assistants to help him with X's and O's which isn't his strength. He's a good teacher, motivator, gets his team prepared well, they played very hard for him.

    More on Mark Jackson quick:

I think I have posted this previously, but it seems worth repeating. Golden State was a very bad team for a long time. From 1994/95 to 2010/11, the Warriors had two winning seasons.

    1. They never finished better than third in the division, with a mean of 4.7, a median of 6, and a mode of 6. In other words, they were essentially the third worst team in that conference for 15 years.

    2. They were a cumulative 336 games under .500, an average of 19 games under .500 per season.

    3. Looking at their relative ORtg and DRtg combined, they were a combined -64.2, or -3.8 per year.

    Then Jackson came along.
    Year 1: 23-43 (-20 games), +0.8 RO, +4.5 RD, total: -3.7, finished 4th in division
Year 1 was clearly in line with what was happening prior to Jackson's arrival.

Year 2: 47-35 (+8 games), RO +0.5, RD -0.4, total: +0.9, finished 2nd in division. The defensive rating improved by 1.6 points (but fell from 26th to 27th in the league).
Year 2 saw the Warrior's second best record since 1994/95. The +0.9 relative difference was the second best, too. The 2nd place finish was the best in that span. The defensive rating improved by 3.6 (and rose from 27th to 14th).

Year 3: 51-31 (+20), RO +0.8, RD -4.1, total +4.9, finished 2nd in the division. The defensive rating improved 2.9 (and moved from 14th best to 4th best).
Year 3 was the best record since 1993/94. It was the best cumulative rating differential in that span. It was the first b2b playoff run since 90/91-91/92. It was the second best defensive rating by a GSW team since the 70s.

His tenure saw an average, then, of +8 games (+2.3 per year), +2.1 relative difference (+0.7 per year), and an average finish of 3rd (2 median, 2 mode). He was a bit of an egomaniac, but his results cannot be denied. We'd need someone like Mitch to temper his fury (and limit his power), but Mitch can do that. I'd welcome Jackson with open arms.

Eh... how much of that resurgence may be attributed to Curry/Clay/Green and how much to MJ is unknown.

But if you consider it 50%, then his contributions aren't really that great.

I'm not sure what to say to that. If even 50% of the contributions are due to Mark Jackson, then it's impressive. I think Klay could be a good shooter on any team. I doubt Draymond would have become what he is on many other teams in the league. For instance, if D'Antoni had him, or if Scott had him, he wouldn't have cracked the rotation. Everyone has to deal with what they're dealt, and not everyone is able to help players develop in the way that Jackson clearly was.

Truly hoping that Medina is right. I can't take another year of this guy. After what will be the two historically worst Laker seasons ever? No freaking way.

Same tired argument for any great player. If you're fortunate enough to coach any great player you get no credit for their development.

I think the only time he got up out of his seat this game to communicate anything on the court is to tell the ref TO.

And when this is going on he needs to get his a** up of his chair and do some coaching. He mailed it in along with all our players today. Kobe not playing, ehh I don't need to coach today. If my boy ain't playing I ain't coaching.
