Then Riley is off his game.

A washed up Dwight Howard is no help to that franchise long-term. Less help than losing Whiteside would be. I'd prefer the cap space in the summer to go after a better option than a locker room malcontent who will eat up 25 million dollars. Heck go after Pachulia who gives you a comparable value for a fraction of the cost.

Whiteside is so much better than Dwight it's not even funny.

Riley is too savvy to do this move. It would jeopardize his plan entirely for the offseason, which is to push hard after Durant. We all remember how KD feels about D12:

There is a statistical comparison between the two; if Riley knows for certain that Whiteside isn't staying, and no other deals come on the table for Whiteside other than Dwight, I think he opts for the deal. Again, that is provided he knows for certain that Whiteside is leaving or has become such a locker room cancer, he has to go.

That said, I don't think the deal gets done because of Morey...

Dwight is going to spend his whole career as a second fiddle, because that's exactly what he is. If he wants to be the man on a bad team, that's one thing, but if he wants to go anywhere with a good team, he will be second fiddle.

I'm sure there's other deals to be had, that's my point. Whiteside might be a dingleberry, but there's someone somewhere who will pay for the services he provides. Rondo got paid this last summer. I'm sure there's other deals that would preserve the cap space Riley wants while still getting him a serviceable player.

These 2 fighting is like Shaq and Kobe......... minus the rings.

I'm sure watching Harden shoot 25 times a game is infuriating, but Howard has no offensive moves and watching him shoot FTs is also infuriating (if you're a Rockets fan).

I wish them nothing but more fighting and losing. They deserve it.

LOL... they were supposed to be the next Shaq & Kobe according to some Rockets fans...

Anyway... I understand Riley's position in trying to move Whiteside and getting something for him. He's screwed because they don't have Whiteside's Bird's Rights... but c'mon... at least get something better than a 30-year old clown with a history of a bad back.

    How pathetic.

I've never seen a guy whose won absolutely nothing and show zero improvement in his decade plus in the league act like hes a superstar who deserves to be the man.

It was Kobe's fault he didnt stay in LA though, right mainstream media?

So glad we didn't resign this clown.

    :Ha::Laugh::Kobe Snickering::dwightcrying:

this is absolutely hilarious. he wasn't happy in orlando, he wasn't happy in LA, and now he's not happy in houston.

from all his complaining to answering back at fans who call him out during games, this guy really is the epitome of a loser. don't change dwight, it'll always be all about having fun. which is why he chose to go to houston and now suddenly trouble in paradise. i love it

Poor Harden. Lucky for him he has the stability of the Kardashian family to lean on.

Howard has regressed significantly since his injury in Orlando.

He is still a good rebounder but not like in the past. Can't score anymore, can't block shots anymore with the same consistency, can't make FTs, has an attitude and is a loser.

In other words...I'm glad he didn't resign with the Lakers.

@randle, I haven't looked into this in much detail, but I think the reason riley doesn't swap whiteside for Dwight is less about that part of the deal in a vacuum, and more about the fact that Miami would have to add useful players in order to make salaries match. didn't Sheridan's conjecture include winslow? hell no.

then again, whiteside can't have much trade value without his bird rights.

it's going to be hard to find a sensible trade partner for either of those two players, imo. Dwight because he makes a ton of money (and it's officially outstripping his on-court value), has an opt-out, and has a level of petulance that is reaching legendary status. whiteside because of the lack of bird rights and consistent questions about his attitude/character.

so, sure, trade one for the other, but one makes 23 million and the other 2.

    What a whiny jerk. :dwightcrying:

But we knew that well from experience. So glad this guy is gone and his crybaby ways are someone else's problem. Good luck Houston. Well, not really.

Miami is hesitant to offer him a big contract, so it seems they're exploring letting him go now instead of losing him for nothing this summer.

Yep. Then he gave his typical "I'm not trying to get out of here" statements that he was saying in LA before he left. Houston was riding so high when Dwight left us. They had the new Kobe and Shaq remember? Oh how time flies.
