Clearly? Because Russell averages 1 more point? 3 less rebounds? and 10% better soon in the first 25 games? I love to see russells improvement but lets take it easy.

Mudiay is putting up better numbers his rookie year than smart in his 2nd year.

Take it easy? What he said was true. Russell is clearly the better player right now. Of course Russell isn't gonna have much better numbers. Look at the situation he's in. Compared to Mudiay.

Yes, he's clearly been better. Mudiay is one of the least efficient players in the NBA. When combined with his high usage percentage + high turnover ratio, he's just been downright terrible so far.

Not numbers but more on physically imposing point guards who can't shoot a lick

Russell is the total package. He's not a pure point in my opinion, but he impacts the game in so many ways. We're going to see alot of these 25-6-6 games I think. A superstar in the making.

He is showing the versatility he displayed in college.

He has also adjusted to the speed of the game and nba three point line so we are seeing him hit a lot more shots. He's just scratching the surface right now.

We made the right call on draft night.

Oh we sure did. The kid could already shoot, handle, rebound, pass and defend better than many NBA players. He could also penetrate and score around the basket. That was unexpected and surprised me. The potential of our backcourt along with Clarkson is just insane.

Okafor will end up becoming dangerous in the paint, but he doesn't impact the game on that many facets. He's still an one-dimensional prospect.

Amazing what a little confidence could do for a player.

The timing of his confidence is the interesting thing. It's clearly related to Byron getting an earful from management.

Mitch to Russell: "Go out there and be yourself."
    Russell: "B...b...but, Byron...?"
    Mitch: "F*** Byron."
    Russell: *grins*

I just wish we ran a better offensive scheme where players knew where to go and Russell knew where to find them, his assists will be much higher. Can't complain about the aggression though, he's finally figuring it out and he did it against the Spurs nonetheless.

Going to be tough today against Patrick Beverley but let's see if he can continue his mini hot streak.

But wait a second. Clarkson is hurt and that's why Russell is getting minutes. Randle didn't get minutes last night. Byron stuck with Nance the whole first quarter even though he got his lunch taken by Aldridge. The kids got minutes the other night only because Kobe asked for it.

^ Haven't read it but I don't agree with the title. JC is injured, if he played yesterday I don't think Russ would have played as much as he did. And Randle did only play 20. Those 3, healthy, need to be playing 35 mins every game, that would be "embracing their development".

Agreed. I'm not convinced Byron won't revert back to doing things his way soon but I suppose we will see. As long as this is what Kobe wants I think we will keep playing this way.

Yeah, I mean Byron has already reverted back that's what makes me mad about this article. Randle only played 20 minutes. And Russell only got the start because Clarkson went down. How is that progress? The kids are still coming off the bench.

That's true, but at the same time it seems Kobe is content with playing 20-25 minutes a game and if the front office is really meeting with Byron after the trip I'm sure he'll belabor the point that he needs to keep playing them.

more against brewer and ariza (if he's playing). Houston just ballhawks on d, and Russell has been a bit loose with his passes on the perimeter. I'm sure Houston's salivating over this game, as the lakers' offense makes their defensive strategy look genius.

my only concern about Beverly is his dirty a** injuring Russell.
