I like the Kobe's son "take" much better. Have actually thought about that ..... he's almost old enough to have been dating and fathered these young guys in his past now, and yeah unlike Shaq with two prodigy sons coming to the NBA this will keep him invested in their development I believe. The old passing the torch thing. He has a small posse for it now with Randle and Russell and even to a degree Clarkson depending how much alpha he has in him. We know he's going to be really good.

Damn, it looked like he was in another gear last night. Excellent poise and confidence down the stretch and loved the aggressiveness and decision making.

Last night was the first time we got a taste of "wow this kid might be able to hold down the fort". I wasn't high on him coming out of college because I wasn't sure his skills would translate that well to the NBA, but he's coming along a lot faster than I thought he would. I was impressed by his willingness to go out there tonight and make a mistake. He and Julius were the same way: "give me the ball and let me make the play". That's so rare to find.

The picture of Shaq/Kobe and then Kobe/Russell is a great comparison for two reasons:

    1. The obvious passing of the torch symbolism. The young kid comes in and tries to do what he can, but falls. It's okay says the older man. You're just getting started.
    2. However, that first picture isn't the passing of the torch. Shaq had the torch, but it wasn't passed at that moment. Shaq was just telling him he'd be okay. The true key behind that picture is that when Shaq spoke to the media after that play he said, "He's the only one who wanted the ball at that moment. I didn't want it, nobody else did, but he wanted to take the shot."

That's what we saw last night and it's the first time we've seen something like that since Kobe from a few years ago. It takes a special kid to jump into the depths of that pressure even when he's uncomfortable and he knows he's in the early stages of his career. Now that was a great teaching moment for him and Julius.

It took Lebron like 8 seasons before he wanted to be that shot taker.

This. Someone once told me that most people are scared of that situation: clock winding down, game on the line, ball in your hands. And therefore most people let their fear and anxiety get in the way, and they the blow the moment. Winners, on the other hand, dream of that moment. It's something you can't teach.

If Russell wants the ball in his hands in a do-or-die situation, then I know he's there, mentally. The rest will fall into place if he just demands the best from himself and works to get better over time.

For a long time a was high on picking Barfights Okafor, but I got cold feet at the last minute when I started listening to his interviews and realized he was a mental-midget. So happy we didn't take him. He can keep getting speeding tickets and guns pointed at his head all day while our young stud makes himself into a champion.

Russell has never been afraid of the big moment ever since high school and college when he was the number 1 option on his team as a freshman. Nothing new

It took Lebron like 8 seasons to be able to execute a "Dream Shake" as well as Julius did last night.

What's that? ....Oh yeah ....LOL .... wait .... he's still not to that level of execution with his back to the basket game! The greatest of all times!! Poor Julius probably only had Kobe to try to emulate as a kid and learn from once he got to the Lakers.

Last night's game was probably just an anomaly. Byron's already said that he only plans on playing them 20-25 minutes a game.

I have learned that we can't believe anything Byron says. Nick was supposed to be benched for a while then was suddenly in the game. The young guns are supposed to only play 20-25 min yet are suddenly playing more than that and even finishing the game. I think we would all be better off just not listening to Byron. :D

Yeah exactly. I think it's because every time this mensa thinks he has this new improvement idea that's "genius" and going to light a fire under all these Basic Training rookies so he can mold them, and announces it to the world, it's the most dumb thing yet and shows EVERYONE how stupid he is. Bass / Kelly "for 10-15 games" was the start. Mitch and Jim hear this crazy talk from him and take him behind closed doors to b**** slap him. Coming up again when he gets back in town.

What's the over under for how many games before Randle and Russell are back in the starting lineup?
