D'Angelo had great game, but a terrible few last minutes. Watch Boron bench him next game...

Byron will use this as "see I told you so" ammo for us stupid fans wanting him in to close out games

Bad game with the turnovers. Farr too sloppy and casual with the basketball. Other than that a solid game. Missed some layups, but love how D-Russ went into the post a few times. With his size he can take advantage down there against smaller guards most times. Loved his effort on the board as well.

Yea he's very predictable like that sadly. But honestly some of those TO's were super sloppy from Dlo...unnecessarily so. Growing pains I guess, but you gotta tighten that up anyways.

My advice to him: When in doubt shoot.

I've questioned 5-6 games ago if DAR was a pure point guard, and I still don't see it. I don't see him ever averaging 10+ assists. I feel Russell's natural position is SG, but he has the poise, IQ and vision, so he's more of a facilitator type.... like a Brandon Roy, Ginobili, or Harden. Not a knock on him because those type of players are rare as well. I could see him averaging 23/5/7 in a few years, but he's not really a Magic or Kidd.

Either way it's good to have the ball in his hands.

I kind of agree, but at this point, it's too early to make that call since Byron isn't letting him actually play pg. He plays carry the ball up the floor and get it to Kobe ASAP. Clarkson is the perfect running mate for him though I think.

He has some of the best vision and passing I've ever seen. I don't know if he has the handles of an elite PG, but I'd put his vision and passing up against anyone's - especially at his age. He might be a 25-5-5 player when he's mature, or he might be an 18-9-6 guy, but I think he's going to be truly great either way.

Right now, I'm thinking Jason Kidd.

I agree with whoever said that we haven't even seen the real D'angelo Russell yet. Stupid Byron.

Yeah. Great assessment. Floor game is going to be superb. Great vision. Next level vision. Shooting will come along. He's got 'it.' Never once doubted his game. I know he'll get so much better.

Said before the season D'Angelo would be a great all around point guard. He's done nothing to make me thing differently. You can't teach that kind of vision and passing ability. We haven't seen this kind of passing from a point guard in a Lakers uniform in 25 years.

People say he's not a true point guard I completely disagree. He's got everything that a true point guard needs. His assist numbers aren't gonna be high when he's playing with a guy like Kobe who is still dominanting the basketball and of course this Princeton offense takes the ball out of his hands so frequently. I see him as a Chris Paul type. He is very capable of scoring, but he is a pass first point guard who's first thought is getting his teammates a quality look.

Yeah you brought up Kidd a while ago and I was hesitant, but I'm starting to agree with you. Terrific all-around game, good defensively, and with great vision too. The longer I watch him, the more I'm starting to think you nailed it.

Don't know... Kidd couldn't shoot until very late in his career. DAR's shooting is his clearly his greatest strength so far... at least in this system.

Way back when we first started talking about him on the board, @RandleROFY and I said we thought he could be Kidd with a jump shot. I haven't changed my mind on that.

There are differences between the two guys, but I think @trodgers is correct.

Kidd with a jump shot is an awesome player. I'm high on him, and I've got my fingers crossed.

Me too. I think if the team can be patient, we've got another great Laker guard on our hands.

Kidd with a jump shot would be a top 10 player of all time. Have people forgotten how good Kidd was? He was the best point guard in the league for years.

If Kidd had a jump shot his triple doubles would have been 20/10/10 and not 10/10/10 :D
