Ideally you'd want one that could grab boards, defend, AND score around the hoop a little more. I will take his rim protection over lack of back to the basket offense. That said, I think he could absolutely score more if more plays were run with him, like with Russ. Why we almost never run a play to get him an open 15 footer, I have no clue, because the guy can actually shoot. He's a better shooter than he is with his touch around the hoop.

He's not a big-time scorer. Sure, we can get him more touches, but that's not his game. Whiteside would be perfect for this team. Finish around the rim, set screens while rolling to the hoops collapsing the defense opening up shooters, block shots, etc...

I wish we could get Whiteside. That would be incredible. But I'm sure he'll take the money in Miami.

I'm not saying he'll leaving Miami. They have some salary cap gymnastics to do if they want to keep him. Bosh and Dragic are locked up long-tern on the other side of 30. Wade needs to 're-up.' Plus, Riley wants to go after Durant. I think they'll re-sign Whiteside, but he is an unrestricted FA, and from my understanding they don't have Bird Rights on him meaning any offer he gets can be the same one he gets in Miami.

That said, I like Hibbert. Good guy, good leader, good defender, just not my 'ideal' center going forward...

Thanks for that informative post, RandleROFY. I'd love to see us go after him. Agree with you all the way, I also like Hibbert, but Whiteside is more ideal, IMO as well. Gives you a young, extremely mobile, shot blocking, rebounding big that can run the floor with our young core. Sign me up if we can do it.

I cannot objectively say that I want Hibbert more than Whiteside. Whiteside might be a dingus, but he's a very good young player making his way into his prime and an UFA. How often does that happen? When a young, talented guy hits UFA, really you need to pounce on it.

But I like Roy immensely. He's a good leader, a great rim protector, a smart person and a smart player. If we "settle" with Hibbert, I'll be absolutely fine with that.

Is Whiteside past his issues though, attitude problems, whatever the case is with him? I'd rather have Whiteside the player, but we don't need anymore chemistry issues thrown into this mix. I'd take Hibbert the team leader with a great attitude over Whiteside's scoring ability. But, with B0ron and Kobe gone, a year of maturing from our young guns, and hopefully with another key free agent signing, he might be fine here.

Miami probably has more pull because of Riley and their more recent successes. I don't see Whiteside coming here although our future is much brighter. I'd gladly be wrong but I like Hibbert as the team dad, seems like a good dude to have around a bunch of 19 and 20 year olds.

Does Roy have a no 4th quarter minutes clause in his contract or something?

Roy has never averaged more than 30 mpg in his career. It's no different here, but I'd rather see him play more minutes in the 4th than he's currently doing.

I think you want a player who still goes all out when he doesn't get tons of touches. In fact, Hibbert seems content with scraps on O.

Hibbert along with the three kids is the other bright spot this season so far. I'd like to retain him. Add a competent two way small forward this season via the draft or free agency for the better.

I'm on record in stating I want Hibbert long term. I just hope boron's ineptitude doesn't run him off from here.

Hibbert's a professional without the entitled attitude. He just wants to work and make sure everyone around him doesn't get too down. What I do greatly respect from him is not letting anyone punk our crew even if we are losing.

Dude's the only reason we're not bottom feeders on defense.
