A good coach would find a way to hit him in motion and make him unstoppable vs force him to iso whenever he gets the ball. But Byron says Hi.
Yeah, I agree. He's struggling right now, but he's also a victim of being stunted In a system with limited spacing. He needs to space to operate off of motion, pick in roll, and ball reversal. Instead, well we know the story...
IIRC the best ISO players don't even shoot a high percentage. But here we are force feeding ISOs to a rookie. Results are as expected. Do we even have a play that forces the defense to switch someone smaller on him to get a mismatch? Or are we the only ones that think it's appropriate to switch Lou Williams on Dirk every play?
Anyone remember the pre-season where we ran the same play three times that resulted in a wide-open lane for Randle against their rookie PF? Randle got two layups and a foul out of it... We haven't run that play once in the regular season... Yesterday he got in foul trouble and put his head down. It's hard to remember just by looking at him that he's only 20 years old. He's so freaking young and young kids react this way. He'll mature as he gets older. The talent is still there and a good coach will find ways to make the game really easy for him.
What is this "good coach" thing of which you speak? Lakers in L.A. have had what ..... 3? Sharman, Riley, Jackson. McKinney (?) before he crashed his bike?
Del Harris was actually a good coach for that particular team when he was hired. They simply outgrew him and they needed a stronger presence. He might be a decent coach for our current roster. He's a good teacher. Well, at least he was. Not sure what he's even up to now.
I couldn't stand Del Harris but he did a great job when we didn't have tons of talent. Once the big boys came (Shaq and Kobe) he couldn't manage the egos. But for the Nick the Quick, early Eddie Jones, club Ced team Harris coached pretty well.
Those teams were fun to watch. Del wasn't Phil but he was a good coach for those teams, and those teams were competitive 50+ win teams. We needed Phil to take us to that next level.
Even an average to bad coach would do that but not Byron... The new standard to which all terrible coaches will be measured..

Brilliant game last night. He realized Scola was too slow to guard him effectively and he took his lunch money. 6 of 9 from the field. I loved that one spin move he put on him. Great boards. Nice to see Julius return to form.
This is why we need to push the ball more. Randle and Clarkson athletically are a nightmare on the break and especially with Russell's passing ability and you don't make him have to score all his buckets in a slowed down half court set. For years we were at an athletic disadvantage and now the tables are turned and we need to take advantage of that.
I didn't even realize he had 18/12 until I looked at the box score after the game. Such a quiet/awesome game. In 2-3 years, with further development of his game and BBIQ, that's a 25/15 folks. He's still just a baby in this league dominating on athleticism over skill. When that skill catches up, it will be fun to watch. I hate comparing players, but I'm definitely seeing the early years Blake Griffin comparison. The only difference is one guy is an actress and the other is freight train.
