you're right on about treating them like children. I'm not even sure it's an appropriate way to treat children. if you want to create responsible, self-motivated individuals, you don't punish without explanation (as the Russell benchings seem to be), and you don't use crucial lessons as punishment (if you don't box out, i'll force you to work on boxing out!). how can you not see the irony there? there are more effective ways to accomplish the same goal: like, hey guys, I realize I've neglected some basic teaching stuff, so we're going to incorporate at least one fundamental portion of individual skill development into all of our practices from now on. that's a much clearer, stronger message than: I'll make you man up!

btw, Byron has to be trolling with that now. there's no way he can be oblivious to that meme, right?

I wonder if Byron will MAN UP and take some splinters for REPEATEDLY sitting our best units because he knows the guys he wants in the foxhole. Eat some grit Byron.

    - Keeping playing Huertas extended minutes like he doesn't have one foot on a plane back overseas before the end of the season. Guy is terrible. His passing is phenomenal, but there is a reason he's never been over here before and it's because the NBA game is too fast, too athletic and doesn't let him play to his strong qualities. He's got to go.

    - Bass at center again. This dude is worried about box outs, while the rest of us are thinking, maybe the undersized 4 can't hang at center when he's going up against 7 footers.

    - Another game, another extended run for our bench that completely takes us out of the game. 5 for 5 subbing doesn't work genius, neither does a small ball lineup THAT CANT SMALL BALL.

    - Waiting for the day that some of Byron's boys find the courage to stop deflecting blame from him and call him out. They had no problems running their mouths with Brown/MDA. It's the players fault, it's the young guys fault, the apple doesn't fall for from the tree.

I'm just done with the cliches, the blame, the embarrassment every night. Stop talking at the players and start talking with them Byeron. And FFS look at an advanced stat every one in awhile and see who your best units are caveman.

I'll say it again, Byron just doesn't understand modern basketball.

And like I was saying in the game time discussion, the numbers clearly show that we play better with the young guys in the game even if they aren't putting up big numbers. We need to leave them on the floor together so they can develop further and learn how to play through their mistakes. It would also give them a chance to try and get themselves going when they start bad like Russell and Randle did last night.

The young guys are being held to a much higher standard than the vets and it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Byron Scott's "man up" movement should start with himself

    Good read....

Our starters have an ORtg-DRtg of something like +30 in our last two losses; right?

Boron has bass playing center and wonders why we struggle with rebounding.

I never thought I'd see anything worse than Damfony but Boron is apparently just as arrogant and incompetent. Perhaps even worse.

I think he's just laughing at us all at this point. Is Ashton Kutcher about to pop out? Are we being Punk'd?

Jim Buss and Mitch have shown over the last several seasons that they can identify the right qualities in players on the draft board. They have also demonstrated that they have no clue in identifying the right qualities in coaches.

Riley and Jackson are probably the only coaches that actually did meaningful work with their teams. Everyone else has been pretty disappointing or down right horrendous. So the Lakers have had a history of pretty bad coaching to be honest.
