Blew it indeed. Should have taken Okafor . Trade Russell. Maybe if we'reK lucky we can get a bag of chips when we trade him.

It's absurd and ridiculous to call him a bust after 8 games a guy 1 year out of highschool has played.

kareem's getting near trolling with the tj McConnell comparison. I'm really glad the sixers nabbed two of the three best players in this draft. it's helping them be competitive. they're building a winner. those guys, under the veteran tutelage of nerlens noel...man, look out.

You think Mudiay looks miles better than Russell?

    Mudiay per 36:
    15.4 points
    7.3 assists
    4.8 rebounds
    1.3 steals

    Russell per 36:
    13.3 points
    3.8 assists
    5.2 rebounds
    1.6 steals

    Mudiay Shooting Split:
    .327/.333/.647

    Russell Shooting Split:
    .397/.310/.600

    Mudiay ORtg/DRtg
    83/107

    Russell ORtg/DRtg
    89/110

The numbers don't bear it out, and I think we have a legit two-way player in Russell. Could become a defensive stopper at the 1.

yeah, just realized that my post sounded harsher on kareem than intended. i understood that he didn't actually mean to compare the two. i'm certainly open to discussing russell's early shortcomings (and have been doing so). but i'm going to hit the brakes hard on any bust talk. i feel like i've seen mostly encouraging things and am allowing myself some optimism.

of course, the last rookie lakers pg that inspired confidence in me this early was javaris crittenton. so maybe everyone should ignore my opinions.

Once again when the panic induced fog clears it will be easy for everyone to see how good Russell is. He is in no way a dud. He has all the tools to be a complete player (there are not many point guards that are) and is steadily improving. The only real concern we have at guard right now is getting the right ones on the court at the right time.

He doesn't have the kind of quick twitch muscles you see in the modern PG, but his size, length, and more importantly effort make up for it. He's working much harder defensively than he is offensively actually (outside of that one game against Orlando). I dig it.

Russell's style of play will prevent injuries. Think Dre Miller instead of D. Rose ;)
