Anyone know if we'll have enough for two max slots this summer? I'm an idiot when it comes to the cap. I heard Miami may have to let Whiteside walk because they won't be in position to offer him anything other than teams with max cap room like the Lakers. If we could somehow get him and Durant my lord. Obviously Whiteside has to keep up this level of play to warrant a max deal.
I actually think Randle is going through a bit of the opposite when it comes to rookie treatment, for now. I brace myself for an offensive foul call whenever Randle attacks, yet they're rarely called. I'm not saying he's actually committing them, but a lot of his drives do look bad due to how much space his size/strength is able to create (and he does use his off arm a bit often). I think as he continues to beast and physically punish defenders early this season, the opposition will complain and he'll develop a bit of a reputation so refs will feel pressured to call more fouls on him.
He's going to be a heck of a player. I hear glowing things about this kid all the time. He's special.
Yeah he will. Randle is already pretty good and hasn't refined his offensive game and I have no doubt he will. I think we're pretty lucky to have such a talented young core. So many teams are stuck in mediocrity with no real direction. We may be bad right now, but it's better than just being mediocre and having no real young talent to build around.
There is enough fuel on this team to get an explosion... the problem is the coach dosen't have a lighter.
It was crazy what they allowed Clarkson to do with his off arm last year, even Summer League this year. He seems to have dialed it back a bit on his own unless I missed a few fouls called on it already.
Julius doesn't mind looking like a bull in a china shop at times taking it to the rack and turning it over. He should have the same attitude and take at least 3 of the short Js they are giving him ....early every single game. They will start dropping, and then look the hell out. Just like Russel is doing with those and the 3s and look what's starting to happen .... they're beginning to drop for him.
The out of control stuff, rookie mistakes, I'll take the good with the bad. On a positive note in that regard, he has no fear at the end of games, he wants the ball. He made a very nice move, got all the way to the hoop, and scored a key bucket in the final minute. That's all of young core (him, JC, Russ), from what I have seen, that have no fear of the big moment and will take late game shots, and I like that a lot. You don't want any Dwight Howards as your future at the end of games.
The novelty of this kid is wearing off already I think. By that I mean he's only 20 years old in what is essentially his rookie season and he's so good we don't even think about it after 5 games. Last night he had 14/7/3/1/1 with 3 turnovers in 32 minutes and nobody blinked an eye. Those are some damn solid numbers. Not to mention he came through in the clutch (yeah luck still counts) and his help side defense is improving slightly. I know the Nets suck, but I don't care. The fact that our guys are playing well against bad teams isn't a bad thing, it's a good thing. They NEED to play well against bad teams to prove their own value.
My prediction : Randle is the 2016-2017 most improved player. His potential on the defence and on the attack is sky high.
Being at the game last night, opposing fans were actually shocked at how good he is. Our best player.
Not yet. Clarkson is our best player right now. He has a PER of almost 20. I think Randle WILL be our best player, as early as this season. But at the moment, Clarkson is our best player. That's no knock on Randle since Clarkson is playing great. I said it in the Clarkson thread, at this point it looks like we may have gotten the two best players out of the 2014 draft. Just FYI, Steph Curry's PER right now is 45.53...That's not a typo. 45.53! That's not even NBA 2k numbers. I know it's only six games, but...He is playing like the rim is 4 feet wide for him.
