This will end the only way it can. We all keep saying Kobe needs to stop taking these bad shots, but these are the same shots he's made his entire career. He doesn't know any other way. He can't defer. He can't take a step back. He cant accept the fact that he's not that all world dominant mega superstar he had been for such a long time. It's really sad. Heartbreaking really.

Some guys just can't do it. I don't think Kobe can. I really didn't wanna have to see him struggle like this. I didn't wanna see Kobe go out like this. I wanted to see him win that sixth championship, still playing at a high level, and see him go out on top like he deserves to. It's not gonna happen. The Kobe Bryant era is coming to close and while it needs to it's really difficult to accept especially for him.

40 wins is absolutely realistic for a team with our talent, even if some of it is young inconsistent talent. An average NBA coach would get us 40 wins. A top tier coach would get this team to 45+ wins.

^^ I think so too. I mean, it should at least be a reasonable EXPECTATION of the coach and should be what he's aiming to acheive. The way Byron is coaching he'll be lucky to reach half of that many wins and that is just ridiculous.

Before we took zero threes and you guys complained.
Now we're taking a million threes and you guys are complaining.

I just can't win with you.

I was watching some old games they showed from our championship years, the level of organization we showed then compared to now is just crazy. It's like watching an NBA champ play vs pick up ball.

Man I'll go a step further than that. They were showing our games on ESPN Classic a week or so ago, and I was watching Bynum's 36 points against the Clippers. We were playing a lot of Kobe, Pau, Bynum, Sessions, Barnes, Metta, and Blake, and Mike Brown was our coach. The passing and team cohesion, having a center that couldn't be defended, pretty much eveything was worlds better than it is now, and that wasn't close to a title team. Byron is garbage. And damn it was depressing seeing what Bynum could have been if not for those knees. He was giving DeAndre fits.

I remember that game. That was the year we got bounced by OKC in the 2ND round.

Bynum was supposed to be that bridge from the Kobe era to the future, him going down/Dwight debacle is a huge reason for where we are right now.

yeah it's really a shame drew's body broke down on him

he really was the last of his kind. a dominant, back to the basket, true center. and to think he's still only 28. just imagine if he would have stayed healthy

Bynum wasn't giving DeAndre fits. He was outright owning him. The guy fetching max money. And this was the 3rd best player(4th if you count Odom in some games) during our back to back.

"Close-out games are actually kind of easy"

Potatohead actually did OK during his first year (granted it was a lockout shortened season). We got to the 2nd round having inherited a Phil-built roster. And then the pressure got to him when Dwight & the ghost of Steve Nash showed up. The Legendary Death Stare of the Mamba sealed his fate.

I wonder what it'd take to seal Mr. Scott's fate???

:giggle: 37% of them are contested ( league "best") so it matters little ... which proves Byron is clueless

Yeah and we had leads in Game 2 and 4. I think we were up by 13 in the fourth quarter of Game 4 on a back to back and 7 late in Game 2.

Could've easily won that series or at least been more competitive despite being outclassed talent wise.

Precisely. That's the problem. We are not getting open looks for our 3 point attempts . Most of them are coming off of isolation .

So, Byron's logic is we are shooting more 3's, which is true, but they are often times very low percentage looks with a hand in their face. It also doesn't help when he's justifying the biggest culprit (Kobe) and defending his shot selection.

I so want Byron to be gone but I don't think the Lakers want to fire another coach midstream. I wonder if they can force him to bring in an assistant coach like Tibs or a good offensive coach. Tell him he has to do it or he's gone. We could then have a decent look at the coach that might be his replacement.

I think we saw them attempt to add to the staff with Worthy and Murray, but they will probably have to do even more if this is going to work. If not, it's hard to see him turning this around unfortunately.

Worthy is tied into the Laker family too much and Murray doesn't have the influence. We need someone who is an outsider. Someone who has been a respected coach and Bryon needs to be made to listen to them. If he can't get the players to play defense or move the ball on offense, get someone who can.
