Well that is until Kobe gets the ball on the elbow, then dribbles out to the 3 point line to take a contested three. That's part of Scott's problem though: what's the plan? Why is everyone just standing inside the three point line and yet we're taking 30 threes a game?

Black's lack of playing time has been downright CRIMINAL.

Everyone? Who is everyone? Like 2 people have said we drafted the wrong guy, most others say patience.

And man, I kinda hope that Kendall Jenner thing isn't true, don't like that family getting their hooks in the kid so young.

It's a lot more than 2 people. We are talking about a large portion of the fan base.

Yep. The other Lakers forum I'm on they did a poll on draft night on who they wanted them to take and Okafor won in a land slide.

I was one of them and I still agree we should have gone that route. Now obviously we went in this direction and I'm more than happy to get behind Russell.

There's still a big difference between saying this kid is a bust and wanting Okafor on draft day. There's also a big difference between calling him a bust and saying he's been underwhelming so far.

Nowhere did I say he's the reason for losing. So Im not looking for a scapegoat. What I am saying is that most of us laker fans have laker goggles. This whole "superstar" and "it' factor stuff is ridiculous to me. Youre not wrong, they aren't really putting him in a great position. Hes still slow as can be amongst other things. Like i said before, if he is lucky enough to reach the level of Andre miller I'm happy because I don't see him as more than that. I'll happily eat crow if im wrong

He doesn't look slow to me. He looks like a weak 19 year old kid. No he'll never blow past a defense like Westbrook, but that's what Clarkson is for anyway. He looks fast/quick enough.

I was very vocal about how upset I was on draft day when we took Russell instead of Okafor. But I'm good with Russell now and seeing how Randle is emerging, I'm happy with the direction we took. Basically Randle's development is better alongside a defensive center and that's what we've got in Hibbert who's pick up really eased my pains on the Okafor thing.

Russell is going to be a great addition moving forward. Having a playmaking PG who can pass like he does and still knock down open looks is going to be terrific, especially if we can add a superstar wing to our mix in FA.

Get Russell going with pick and rolls for now and get him more involved in setting guys up and we will be in much better shape. As many have said, it's up to Byron to put him in position to succeed which he has not done so far.

I don't see what's ridiculous about it. Russell has the skill set to be a star in this league. He has the handles, he has the basketball IQ, he has a great feel for the game, the play making ability, great size for PG which he can use against shorter guards, no he's not elite athlete but it's not like he's not an NBA athlete. He doesn't have great speed, but he's not slow by any means. Russell right now I believe is just struggling a little bit to adjust to the speed of the NBA game, but I think he will it'll just take some time. He's the #2 pick. You're usually anticipating a superstar with that high of a pick and less than that is disappointing.

Russell instead of Randle? I think you meant Okafor.

I wasn't happy with the pick and nothing I've seen has changed that. I'm trying to see this potential that everyone sees. I'm not seeing it. I'm seeing someone who is slow and lacks NBA level athleticism. When you're slow, your skill level has to be exceptional and your bball iq must be very high. I don't think his skill level is high enough to make up for what he lacks physically.

I'd love nothing more than to be proven wrong and I'll happily acknowledge being wrong if what we've seen thus far is a fluke, or if Byron's coaching has really messed up his head.
